I appreciated the nod to the Bela Legosi original. I had coincidentally watched it a few days before on a whim.... Actually that whim was me finding the Dracula burger king toy from 97 at a flea market.

I personally found it solid. A nicely done satire. Fantastic performance from Ralph Fiennes. Not a laugh-out-loud movie, but decently enjoyable overall.
I really thought it was going to a predictable cannibal movie. Pleasantly surprised it wasn't, really pretty decent. The snotty superfans of the movie have soiled it for me a bit

That monkey sub plot was top notch.

Boogeyman (2023)

Not bad. Lots of jump scares. Some scenes were shot too dark. But not too bad.

I'm fine. It's an old saying(the law of the hammer), meaning you over-rely on a familiar tool. In this sense, I'm saying alot of these films are over-reliant on one tool(jump scares), and I hate it. I often relate it to old ass comedy where they would constantly use the pie in the face schtick.

Beau is Afraid. Black comedy that goes from quirky and weird to down-right absurd in the final act. The first third reminded me of Lunatics: A Love Story, that's about the only good thing I'll say about it. I'm not sure who this was meant for, but it wasn't me. Probably some bullshit deeper meaning behind all the random shit going on, but fuck that noise. I say it's a waste of three hours.

The Tank. A family inherits a house with an old water tank that's home to a monster. It's set in the 70's, so no cell phones or internet shit. One thing that bugs me is that, after staying there for a few days, there's still a room they never bothered to go into that just happened to have a diary explaining everything. I dunno about you, but I check out the entire house before moving in. Other than that, it was decent. The monster looked good and the film could have easily been made in the 80's. Worth a watch.

The most recent horror movie I watched was Session 9, but I've already seen it before. I loved the movie though. It's one of my favorites for sure.

Indiana Jones & The Dial of Destiny ........................... B-

Not the visual disaster I expected after the mediocre trailers and The Flash, in fact most of the visuals worked (not all, there is a goofy shot of Indy running on top of a train, but it's quick). The De-aging worked very well this time around. It is an overall better-made movie than Crystal Skull...yet the quest wasn't very engaging or exciting to me, and I think that's what's holding this one back from sitting with the original trio as well. I'm not feeling invested in the artifact, or most of the action. I don't feel cheated like Crystal Skull's "their treasure is knowledge" bs, so it doesn't have that going against it lol.

Watched A Serbian Film earlier tonight.

Honestly, while it wasn't exactly pleasant, I was sort of expecting worse. *shrugs* Maybe I'm just jaded now. :P
