I started watching the 2016 Ring movie. Fucking awful. Gave it a half hour which felt like a solid 29 minutes more than it deserved. I can only assume it was made to hold on to the rights, not with an actual intention of entertaining (certainly not scaring) anyone.

Bone Tomahawk (2015) was a good ole western horror
The cave dwellers were a little boring but the movie held my interest . Kurt Russel was amazing of course , Matthew foxy Fox also did well with his part . The dialog was good stuff , sets , actors , etc all on mark . Could of used a little more gore tbh but the last half hour of movie was the best

I got into the pattern of avoiding horror until the challenge so I could watch a bunch. Used to not even watch horror at all until October for a couple of years. This year I've been trying to get back into the pattern of watching horror whenever I damn well please. When the mood hits, I'm just gonna pop 'em in.

How often do we watch horror today compared to ten years ago or so?

it has dropped off a little bit, in the last couple of years. probably around the same time i moved to colorado. but it's not just horror movies.

but why do you think that is?

Could be a different reason for everyone. Seen all the ones we love too many times and the thrill of watching is gone?
