Of the highest grossing 3 original new movies this year, Barbie was completely fucking retarded, didn't bother to finish. Oppie was dry and boring as fuck, passed out at the 6 hour mark somewhere. And I'm not a Pixar guy but heard Elemental is the worst one yet, so no need. Man I miss the 80s and 90s. And it's not just an Archie Bunker thing hate for modernity, as we've been living in a boon for mega quality TV all over, so what the fuck they doing?
Yeah, yeah I know Oppie was a technical marvel, Barbie also looked beautiful who gives a shit. Next time talk to James Cameron about how to do an entertaining movie about blowing us all up fuckers.

having not yet seen any of those movies, the more interesting question to me is if they are so devoid of worth or quality how did they become the highest grossing of the year? how did barbie make a billion, and oppenheimer nearly did too, if there was nothing to like?
Re: 21~01~24
Barbie was barely average and should be in the conversation for most overhyped movie ever. Elemental in my opinion is the worst Pixar film. Oppenheimer was fantastic though

I think people are expecting too much from a film about a doll. If it was watchable, it's a success in my eyes, cause there's no way it was gonna be anything great. The other two aren't in my wheelhouse at all, so I can't comment.

The movies of the 80s and 90s basically serve as a time capsule for an era where everything was just better. People were happier. You can see it all in the films. Things have become so different over the last 10 years that it almost looks like a completely different lifetime, but we were all alive for it.
Re: 21~01~24
happier? is that really something you can determine from the films of that era? give me an example of what you're talking about?Jason wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 8:18 pm The movies of the 80s and 90s basically serve as a time capsule for an era where everything was just better. we like those films better because we were growing into being people through that time. though as far as horror goes, the 90s wasn't the best ever. so yeah. people who were adults in the 80s kind of seem to think it sucks as far as film goes. it's all relative and i see enough cool stuff now not to throw in the towel for this current era.
