I think it's a stretch to say it's anti-American or disrespectful to America as a country, per se. I definitely think it's disrespectful to our soldiers and those who sacrificed to ensure we are free and the best damn country in all the world. It was the Anthem for the Confederacy. You're okay with honoring traitors of the US, but not okay with people choosing to sit during a song. It's an odd sense of patriotism to me


That being said, the one ballgame I ever went to, hardly anyone stood for the anthem, most just sat attentively and watched. I dunno if that was a regional thing at the time or what, but it was early to mid 90s Cleveland, Ohio.

I wold agree that looking at ones phone or other such distraction during would be disrespectful, especially being vocal or talking during it, but sitting quietly to yourself, not so much.
