you misunderstood. i didn't mean that i try to write a story around characters i made up beforehand. i meant that the story around them is crap, but they are cool (at least to me. maybe not so much to others).Foo wrote:Perhaps that is a sign you should be focusing on the story and then writing characters to fit it? Ah ok. I guess I am of the mindset that great characters are actually more important than the story. A couple awesome characters chasing a MacGuffin is usually a whole lot more entertaining than bad characters in an amazing story.zombie wrote:you misunderstood. i didn't mean that i try to write a story around characters i made up beforehand. i meant that the story around them is crap, but they are cool (at least to me. maybe not so much to others).Foo wrote:Perhaps that is a sign you should be focusing on the story and then writing characters to fit it? the people who write movies or novels or comic books professionally, at their worst, are far better than i am.Foo wrote:Ah ok. Possibly, or they are just better at selling their stuff. If it is like anything else, writing is about 25% and selling your writing is the rest.zombie wrote:the people who write movies or novels or comic books professionally, at their worst, are far better than i am.Foo wrote:Ah ok. sure, they are more successful too. but i meant the finished product as a viewer or reader. i'm not an studio head or a publisher. etc. so yeah. just talking about from my own perspective.Foo wrote:Possibly, or they are just better at selling their stuff. Seems like you are entertained by it. Isn't that what is most important?
Re: March 7th, 2018
yeah, that's the most important. if you're doing something that you don't like, start a different story and incorporate more of yourself, rather than trying to make it for whatever audience.

Haven't seen it and don't plan on it. It looks like the run of the mill bullshit ghost/demon horror that appeals to the masses, but in reality, sucks donkey dick.Tiggnutz wrote:Probably been stated before but I am hearing alot about this Netflix movie Veronica. Anyone watch it yet?
