Cops attack victim of fiery crash
as i understand it, the police were involved with a pursuit of another guy. the other guy crashes into the guy in that video, then he starts to put himself out after he's caught on fire. so the cops, then, surround him and kick / beat him.. for i guess getting in the way? what the hell...

Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
Trying to put out the fire.
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
Probably fleeing police and crashed
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
one guy was fleeing police and crashed into the guy in that video (in another car, not on foot), is what i'm getting. maybe i'm wrong.Tiggnutz wrote:Probably fleeing police and crashed
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
Maybe they didn't know who he was and had to assume he was the one fleeing. As far as dragging him he was laying next to an inferno so I can't think of a faster way of getting him away from it.zombie wrote:one guy was fleeing police and crashed into the guy in that video (in another car, not on foot), is what i'm getting. maybe i'm wrong.Tiggnutz wrote:Probably fleeing police and crashed

he was laying there because the cops told him to. standard cop procedure, get on the ground, hands behind your head. etc. then they decided to beat him, for whatever reason.Tiggnutz wrote:Maybe they didn't know who he was and had to assume he was the one fleeing. They clearly didn't realize he was the innocent man.

Can someone put the link as a link? I can't see the video. . .
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
even if he was the guy they were pursuing, at that point he was complying with them. and he had just been on fire. maybe don't kick the shit out of him when he's doing what you ask?Jason wrote:They clearly didn't realize he was the innocent man.
what do you say they cut him some friggin slack!?
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
He started the god damn fire. I'd have kicked the shit out of him, too.

Par for the course for US policing.
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
the guy who fled is not the guy who was on fire. he did not start anything.Jason wrote:He started the god damn fire. I'd have kicked the shit out of him, too.
"Our investigators have reviewed the video and we believe with certainty that this man is the bystander from West New York who suffered burns, not Leo Pinkston, the individual pursued by police," Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said in a statement."

i'm not blaming all cops. but when certain cops act like assholes, they should be held accountable. i don't get this need to brush it off like they did nothing wrong, without even looking for the info. cops are as capable of being garbage as anybody else is.

Zomb: "if he was the criminal, he was complying. Don't kick him."zombie wrote:the guy who fled is not the guy who was on fire. he did not start anything.Jason wrote:He started the god damn fire. I'd have kicked the shit out of him, too.
Me: "If he was the criminal, I'd have kicked the shit out of him."
Zomb: "He was not the criminal".
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
a mob of cops can't identify whether one guy on the ground is the criminal that they were chasing or a bystander. or they just didn't care one way or the other. there was no reason at all to kick the shit out of the guy before finding out who he was.Jason wrote:Zomb: "if he was the criminal, he was complying. Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
Is that what you're getting at, or are you gonna change it up on me again?
Re: Cops attack victim of fiery crash
yes.
at best, those cops acted brashly and stupid in an isolated incident. at worst, this is the way they handle a lot of situations. whatever the case, i'm glad that someone was filming it, so that it's out in the open.
