Re: Watching the Friday the 13th Franchise, with Jason
It is pretty common. Not even in just murderers, but with demonic hauntings, pets are often killed off.zombie wrote:i guess if it wasn't meant to be about killing a dog. it could be commentary on real life murderers, how they often kill animals too. and drawing your attention to it, to ultimately, and really subtly if that's the case, show that jason isn't just a normal sicko murderer. he has a purpose for it. that kind of goes along with what ginny was pondering too.zombie wrote:also... even if the dog was not muffin. it's still a dog. they made a point of showing it to us. so, jason didn't kill muffin. it's still probable that he killed that dog, whatever it's name was. or at least that's gotta be the assumption the filmmakers wanted to leave you with, right?
but i still think it was there to show that he does kill animals, whether it's for thrill or for food.

I noticed the similarity too after I postedzombie wrote:the two to use chainsaws to try to fend him off. nice.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:I know my top two are Ginny and Pam.zombie wrote:would be cool to see how you rank the final girls of the series, along with the jason's if you're into that at all.

The whole bullshot about kids and animals is a Kane Hodder addition. He wants to make sure he preserves his anti-hero status because that is what plays with the autograph seekers.

That sounds about right. I used to really like Kane, but the special features on Jason X really turned me off with how...authoritative he was with what Jason would or wouldn't do. Him not playing well with the creators, i firmly believe, is why they dropped him for Freddy vs Jason.Foo wrote:The whole bullshot about kids and animals is a Kane Hodder addition. Also that said, I would've wanted him to fight that fear-of-water bullshit...

1-6 guy here. I think 6 marked the official end of the series. Became anthologies with Jason shoehorned in after.

50% of budget spent to make Jason into a fat Skeletor.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:7 begins.

I do like Fred Mollin's score. Sure, he recycles some of Harry's from part 6, but I like the stuff he does too.

When I spoke to the guys making the Voorhees fan film I made the poster for, Cody was surprised when I said I don't like the eyes of the mask blacked out with felt, and I like seeing an eye or skin under the mask.

It took many years before I knew Mike was killed with tent stakes. Never knew what the fuck those were. I never saw stakes that looked like that.

6 was my favorite for a lot of years. it's good fun and has a lot of nostalgic value. But I moved 2 into the #1 slot a couple years back. The cast of characters is far more likable than any other installment. Particularly Ginny.DancesWithWerewolves wrote:Well...it is better than 6, for sureMonster wrote:Much as I love the first, I'm anxious to get to part 2. the best of the bunch.

I know Kevin Blair/Spirtas is gay, but I never got a gay vibe from his character, Nick.
BEN...however...is a total closet case. I believe his girl knows too, hence why she's so pissed at him.

Re: Watching the Friday the 13th Franchise, with Jason
So part 3 was originally going to have Jason stalking Ginny in a mental institution. I've heard two different explanations for why this never happened. One was that it was too much like Halloween II, and the other being that Amy Steel turned it down for fear of being typecast. Anyone know what the real story is?
