I can't recall another film villain possessing both Omnipotence and Omniscience, and possibly Omnipresence. It kinda makes the villain stupid. This is even considering that literal gods and the Devil himself have been film villains.
everyone will bring their own expectation and baggage to the film.
Is this an excuse for bad writing?
show me the objective metric you used to determine that it's bad writing and not your own subjective view of the film?
By objective standards it is amazing. Kinda like Hulk Hogan had the best wrestling matches because they drew the most money.

I would say by any standard of storytelling, it is pretty childish. Inconsistent rules that are broken within minutes of each other, no consequences for the actions, and a journey that leads nowhere.

I'm sure every Avenger that "died" or "disappeared" will be back again to even further water down the superhero genre.
i agree that they're all going to come back in some way. stakes in one film can be undone in the next film. you only complain about it when you don't like the films. :P
It always waters it down. I loved the TV show Supernatural. They started pulling this shit like 6 seasons in. And they kept doing it. Really ruined the show.

Then of course they went all PC liberal. Biggest downfall in TV show history, tbh. As far as personal preference. Those first three seasons were some of the best TV of all time.
did it water down bond? did it water down friday the 13th? i think it becomes an issue only when the film or tv series doesn't hold your interest or stops holding your interest.
Yes, it watered down Friday the 13th. Literally in JTM.

Can't think of amyone who was resurrected in 007 movies.

Why are you targeting other things I like? I specifically gave you one in Supernatural, which was my favorite show of all time for a brief period.
i guess it's more "fake death" in bond. i chose things you like because i think it's more to do with the film not holding your interest as a whole, rather than the coming back from the dead that is the problem. you mentioned that supernatural started to lose you, in general, as it went on. if it had kept the quality of the first three seasons, and featured resurrection still, would it have been "watered down' or would you have just gone along for the ride?

i don't know the rules of the gauntlet. i'll have to wait to see the film, to see if it feels inconsistent based on what's set up in the film. i don't know where the journey leads or fails to lead. i get the impression you haven't seen it either.

Watered down. But I am still somewhat keeping up with the show.

You seem to be forgetting that I enjoyed superhero movies quite a bit until they started popping out more a year than OctoMom. Loved Iron Man, dug Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, etc... But there's a point where it just becomes way too much. And superhero movies exceeded that point even further. Too predictable, and they started to flat out just suck. So I gave up on them.

fair enough. i'm not trying to talk you out of your point of view. just making it clear that that's what it is. and if someone feels differently, it's not because they just don't know bad writing when it's in front of them.

enjoying superhero film should be a case by case thing. i love horror, but that doesn't mean i'm going to love every horror movie. you're not wrong for your own view of a film. you may be wrong if you try to tell me what view i should have of that film though. :P i'm not trying to tell you what to think, just trying to get a better idea of your point of view.

Why are you defending this movie's writing?

from my own perspective, coming back from the dead can work well, and it can suck. it depends on how it's handled in the story. and if the quality of the film, in general, doesn't work for me, the resurrection will stand out more. i blame it on the overall quality of a film or television show, rather than the trope itself. that's just me.

i'm not defending this movie's writing. it may very well end up sucking. but that will be my own take away, and no one else has to feel the way i do. that's what i'm "defending". :P

I thought it was already stipulated that no two people will see it exactly the same way. We know this already, right?

I am saying writing that paints itself into a corner where the only outcome is insulting those invested into the story is bad writing. They are now in the "It was all a dream!" territory or revealing Thanos is really just a prankster fucking with them.

very often, we don't seem to know it already. very often, we've tried to tell other people what to think about a film. myself included.

i'm not taking anything away from you, or how you view the film. so there really should be no problem.

Foo wrote:I watched that clip Jason posted with the candles falling, and I am kinda annoyed the pastor never turned to ask if everyone was ok after hearing the noise that included large metal banging on a hard surface and a lot of broken glass.
Pretty sure he knew the guy was working on something back there, he turned back and saw the shattered glass, indicating the candles were knocked over. Also, the church-goers saw the whole thing and didn't react with urgency. Think that played a part, too.

But nothing in life is more important than finishing your prayer, btw. (lol)
I came dangerously close to pissing myself laughing when I saw that.

Let's bow our hearts for prayer.

Something similar is said in the comics, but I dunno if it's true in the films yet.
