Need three to qualify as franchise.
Need three greats to qualify as major franchise.

Maybe, sure.

And how about this. How about MOST movies not be completely terrible? Pretty agreeable standard, no? I mean, every franchise with like 5 or more movies has its share of shit films, sure. But literally MOST of Hellraiser is total shit. Not just bad. Total shit.

that's fair enough. hellraiser has four watchable movies (of varying degrees) out of the 8 or 9 film series. (i'm having trouble recalling)

That's completely subjective. I would say Hellraiser qualifies based on the first three installments.

Hellraiser 1-3 are consistent and a proper trilogy. I think they have to count as a major franchise. I like all the 8 we had with Doug Bradley. And it is an iconic character in a major franchise. Anything else is just retarded.

I enjoy 3 on some level, but in no way is it consistent with the first two masterpieces :P

Agree it's not the platinum standard. But it's still part of a singular storyline. 4-8 all take a new spin on the method but don't strictly follow along, except arguably 6.

I think the first three Psychos are great. Haven't seen part 4 in 20 years, although I own it. I remember liking it, but will rewatch soon.

I hated the part II ending, but liked the actual movie. III was better to me in that it put the franchise back on the correct path.

Hellworld isnt bad you cant ask for much more from an 8th installment of a franchise.
