There’s a risk it gets worse. There’s me and one other who were in the top 10 for excess hours, and I’ve taken over half her portfolio alongside mine. So could get ugly.

Picard seemed pretty convinced that it does do damage, and was kinda disturbed that the Federation decided to simply commission a long study to examine it. Was he morally wrong for continuing to use it, despite believing it could cause harm?

Picard seemed pretty convinced that it does do damage, and was kinda disturbed that the Federation decided to simply commission a long study to examine it. Was he morally wrong for continuing to use it, despite believing it could cause harm?

They were allowed to use up to warp 5 without restriction. Anything beyond that needed to be an emergency or required authorization(happened a few times). They ignored it sometimes, too, but that's due to the episodic nature of the series. They tried to have an on-going continuity, but still did stand-alone episodes. The other series mostly ignored it, though it was mentioned in Voyager at least once that I recall. So, I don't see how it would be morally wrong if he stuck to the restrictions barring emergencies and whatnot(and ignoring the episodes where it's obvious the writers were ignoring it).
