This time around has been painfully slow this year. I have not had the focus this year like I did the last. Right now I am force feeding myself to "The Hands of Orlac" from 1924. It is good, for back then anyway,
but a bit long for my taste, at 92 minutes. I have no idea how they sat in a theater that long, maybe this used to be cut up, like a serial? I have no idea.
I still have an hour to go on it. I plod along...

What might seem slow and shoddy now was likely quite exciting for theater-goes at the time. Unlike people today, who grow up on modern television and cinematic movies, there was no basis for comparison back then.

I've not seen The Hands of Orlac - it's one of the maybe 15 silent horror films (that still exist) I've not gotten to yet. But I've seen very few silent horror films I disliked, and there's almost none I disliked due to a slower pace. I know that as soon as talkies came about, the spoken dialogue made the movies seem snappier, but is there really that much of a difference between, say, The Phantom of the Opera (1925) and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), in terms of pacing?

I might be one of the few defenders of silent horror films here, but I think a lot of those movies have a lot to offer to those of us willing to open our minds a bit and experience a new way (more like an older way) of watching films.
For my thoughts on the horror films I've seen, please look here: https://jigsawshorrorcorner.wordpress.com/

I did not say I disliked it, I know the problem lies with me. I think it is good, and even though it has taken me longer than three days to finish it, I hope to finish tonight, I am finally at the 50 min. left mark.
But I still do not see how they did it. I have other silent movies in my lineup after this. I am stubborn, I will do this.

Thanks.

If I've only seen the first 1/3 of a movie, I can still count it as a new watch, correct?

Never would've guessed the actress playing Trish was 30 in this movie. She's pretty damn cute.

Didn't expect that ending, so that's a plus.

Huh. Ray Wise is in Jeepers Creepers 2.

Something about the confined bus setting is really cool in this one.

And as I type that they finally leave the bus...

Well this isn't the most amateur movie I've seen this challenge. Some of the actors are actually okay though.

lol, I don't remember the last time I saw a blow up doll used in a movie. Maybe Super Troopers.

I dig the psychology in this movie, but the rest is pretty garbage. Seems a victim of a shit budget.

And the original title, The Lunatic'ler should've stayed.

The one girl in this flick (well, aside from the mom at the beginning, but that's one shot) reminds me too much of Lena Dunham, but with dyed red hair. Luckily no hairy pits though.
