It is to an extent, but we've also had a lot in recent time, so unless you follow or know those being affected, it could pass you by. I've known other people whose houses have burned in wildfires but not this one (not counting celebrities in Malibu), so ya know.

No politics or anything but California has to do something to prepare for and try to lesson these fires. No politics talk but some measures must be taken

I am not sure how you keep politics out of it, when they literally refuse to adopt strategies to prevent such fires. Tree harvesting, controlled burns, etc. are viable options that they refuse. As demand for wood has increased, they have reduced logging by 75%.

I live directly adjacent to a huge state park. Hunting deer (so they are not flying into our cars every damn day) and thinning the forest are vital parts of managing the area. Downed trees are removed by locals who want it for fire wood, brush is cut back, and it there are times when contracts are given to remove some of the mature trees.

It takes a lot to burn up a living tree, but all the dead brush and downed trees change all that. there are plenty of companies and residents who would love that wood.

The belief that all wildfires are bad and must be prevented is problematic in itself. Historically, wildfires were good for dry western forests and the government has artificially disrupted that. Now you get these uncontrollable monster fires.

In these dry forests, you need some fire to clear out all the seedings and brush on the ground. They don't do anything at all with most of that land and ground fuels just continue to build. There are sites with foot tall layers of pine needles.

Coastal forests are a different story and require different management strategies.

Also, that stuff can be burned for energy more cleanly than allowing it to slowly rot and then incinerate uncontrollably.
