The Hump.
Re: January 9th 2019
One week of keto diet complete. After much reading and video watching I do not think I have reached ketosis yet I think I am not eating enough fats and the bulk of my calories are protein which is the same as eating carbs. Today for lunch a bowl of lard with a hair in it (who knows that movie reference?)

I'm starting a low sodium diet next Monday. I don't ever add salt to my food. I think the only thing that I do add salt to, is cantaloupe. When I get potato chips, including Pringles, I opt for the low sodium ones. I just like them better. However, sodium is in a shit ton of the food we consume.
Also, gonna get medical help for my alcoholism and really stick to it. I made it 31 days, but got the call about my mom having surgery. The same surgery that almost killed her back in the 90s. Then she passed. I need help to be able to cope with stressful situations. I'm not beating myself up about it, because that's a son of a bitch, ya know?
31 days sober was the best I've felt since I was like 21 years old.

It was really easy for me until the major stress happened. It's sucks when alcohol seems like the only way to have fun. I was just starting to remember how to have fun again, and not have one thing dictate what I was gonna do.Tiggnutz wrote:I'm hoping to be alcohol free until the beginning of March.I have a physical around that time I want to know how it will effect my blood tests and shit.

That sounds dumb. Protein and carbs are both 4 calories/gram. Fat is 9 calories/gram. Calories in needs to be less than calories out to lose weight(the only way to lose weight no matter what any "diet" claims), so eating more fat makes no sense.Tiggnutz wrote:One week of keto diet complete. The whole reasoning behind the "low-carb" or "no-carb" craze is that your body uses carbs for energy. Without carbs, they turn to your fat stores, but it makes you feel like shit since you're not refueling your body(you're essentially running on fumes). A much easier way to lose weight would be to cut fat since you get more than twice as many calories from fat than you do carbs.
In the end, all diets are garbage, because they are temporary. You want to lose weight and keep it off, you need to take a good look at what you're putting into your body and adjust it to your activity level. Most people don't think they eat as bad as they do. For one week, you should document everything you eat, every fucking thing, and check the calories. You'd be surprised at the results. If you're sedentary, you should be eating less than the "recommended" 2000 calories.
