It is people's politics that have evolved, not Hollywood. It is unfortunate that low taxes and handouts to corporations don't sell well as movie themes, but that is reality.
True, it's not new. But I do think it's becoming more blunt.
We can only project our modern conceptions of that stuff onto old films though. I'd bet Guess Who's Coming to Dinner came across as very blunt and heavy-handed in its time.
Not removing until John Elway is fired.

I didn't really feel that with watching In The Heat Of The Night for the first time recently (as I think that's a comparable movie, since I didn't see GWCTD). If they bake the cake well, let the ingredients simmer, rather than feel like it's shoe-horned in, it won't feel so forced.

Oddly enough, I'm having a minor spat with a beta reader of my book claiming there needs to be a kissing scene, and I'm like wtf? The story doesn't call for that, and I ain't shoe-horning it in just to appease some cliche lol.

We have to look at what we do know to be absolutely true in this scenario. The theaters sell out in record numbers, but none of the theaters even fill up.

There is no denying that is absolutely strange, and it is entirely plausible to think that Disney or Marvel are stuffing the boxes.
What else we know is that rotten tomatoes manipulated their audience score ratings.
the audience rating is 68%. is that worth manipulating to that level? or do you mean that they stopped allowing pre-opening comments for films? that's two different things.
It was as low as I believe 29% before it was temporarily removed from their site completely, then brought back with a higher score.
I'm sure that was a totally legit 29%.
Very likely not, but they went out of their way to hide the deleted reviews. Could've just said they removed trollee reviews and made a list of the ones they deleted. Pretty easy, and no controversy needed. The hypocrisy here is Rotten Tomatoes didn't remove any of those trollee comments for The Mule before it was ever released. Clint Eastwood has garnered a hateful cult following after supporting Romney in 2012 and saying millennials are fuckin' snowflakes. lol. It is hypocrisy, and a blatant double standard. But this goes on in the every day world of liberal manipulation in news media and Hollyweird.

Youtube also admitted that it changed the algorithm for Brie Larson because of the backlash she was receiving for being a dumb ass. lol. The words "Brie Larson" became a "newsworthy" search term so that youtube can bump videos that they favor to the top of the search results. Before the biased algorithm shift, the talk of the town was about her podium-rant regarding white people. "I don't hate white dudes, BUT", "I don't hate white dudes, BUT", "Again, I don't hate white dudes, BUT". Instead of allowing discussion on the subject, they do the double-standard and try to bury it as if it never existed.

It's censorship, manipulation and dishonesty. Can't have that, no matter what side you're on.

Grabbed the wrong credit card when I took off to the grocery store. That sucked. Had to walk all the way back home to grab the right one and walk back. Luckily they kept all my stuff in produce storage to wait for me so I don't have to regrab everything.

In my neighborhood it's not a good idea to have all that on you walking around.

There's a bagger chick that reminds me of a young Parker Posey, but with meat on her, including booty and tits. Pretty damn cute. Alli agrees that there's a Parker resemblance too.

Oh, yeah, I point out hot chicks to her, lol.

what we know to be absolutely true is that there is a large faction (whether collective or independent) of internetters that want to see captain marvel fail because they are upset at brie larson. and that d was in a theater that wasn't full on opening weekend. we can extrapolate from that, but we don't know anything else for fact.

it is entirely plausible that disney would stuff the box office, if they felt it would amount to something worth the effort. (is 10% increase to the opening weekend worth that? i don't know)

it's also plausible that internetters would work actively to bring something down that they don't like. and we've seen actual evidence and precedent of that, before captain marvel. you have to make up your own mind as to what seems more plausible.
Stuffing boxes is more plausible.
Remember when we thought politicians didn't stuff ballot boxes? Has happened.
Remember when we scoffed at the idea that there was overwhelmingly liberal bias in movies? Now there's no denying it.
Remember when we thought all mainstream news outlets were trustworthy? Now we barely see real journalism anywhere.

Totally plausible to think that Disney or Marvel put out phony box office numbers to puff their chest. This is what goes on in movies and in Hollywood. The award shows are totally agenda-based, as well.
to you, it's more plausible. we can leave it at that, as i'm not going to convince you.

one flew over the cuckoo's nest is kind of heavy handed with the message too, but it's still an awesome flick.

Probably my 2nd favorite of the new-to-me Oscar winning best pictures I watched during my marathon. If not 2nd, probably 3rd.

Top spot was The Apartment. Which I don't think would fly today with how "nice guys" ruined the concept of a nice guy these days.

I don't see that. I'm thinking we're mixing up how "heavy handed" is interpreted. I see it as an in your face, takes you out of the movie to preach, moment.

it's not like a monologue-y diatribe-y type of way or anything. give me an example of a film you see that in?

I do the same to Amber, lol. She will actually point out hot girls in public with big boobies and big booties for me lol.
