I think the writers would have made great use of some kind of military expert . . . I'm blown away by how horrible these plans are.

The question of Dany's ambition and mental health are being laid on a bit thick. That suggests she won't turn out to be the tyrant I thought she'd be.

I'm surprised Dany didn't just use that island land mass for cover to wing around behind those ships and just torch'em. I mean they had no space to turn around.

Good episode but I agree the military planning is terrible kinda looked like Cersi could of ended the whole war right there with her 50 scorpions pointed at the conveniently lined up troops, rival queen and dragon that were a stone throw away.

Yeah, that's silly but forgivable as a theatrical kind of thing.

But how on earth do you get ambushed at sea by THE fleet you have to worry about? Why not use the dragons to do recon from as far above sea as possible? Why didn't she flank Euron's fleet and toast them, it's a fleet, they're going to be stuck there for a while.

It's actually incredible how lazy that sequence was.

Beat me to it. That's a hell of a blind spot for the writers.

Cersei's evil as fuck but she probably makes for the most effective leader of the remaining challengers tbh. Although Sansa is starting to show some promise thanks to the tutelage of my man Petyr Baelish.

The ships all had the giant ballista facing forward. Fly around, toast them. Job done. What the fuck.

The battles have gone to shit since Martin isn't writing them. He's a huge history nerd, so he knows how shit works. The show runners on the other hand, know fuckall. Same reason the battle at Winterfell was kinda shit on tactics and why damn near everyone lived. Martin has gone on record saying he doesn't like what they are doing this season, so we'll just have to wait another twenty years for him to finish the books so we know how it actually should play out. He also said the studio interfered and made them keep people alive because they bring in ratings. Typical bullshit.

You have to wonder why they haven’t stuck to his ideas more if they could. Lots of things feel increasingly silky in this TV show. Which is a shame. Because it had great building blocks.

From what I understand, all they got to work from is a general outline from what's he's got, and they're filling in all the blanks.
