Cant end Cersi that way so unfulfilling. I'm good with everything else but that was terrible.

Did fulfill the prophecy but pretty unsatisfying nonetheless.
It's pretty obvious to me that Benioff and Weiss just wanted to be done with this shit. HBO is now getting out in front of the heat and saying they welcomed a longer season.

The Euron character was also such a goofball.

Re: Game Of Thrones
It does feel rushed, that's my only complaint about this season. I enjoyed the gigantic clusterfuck that happened last night, holy shit. I said to one of my friends, "Well, Dany finally learned to 'wing around' "
Re: Game Of Thrones
You don't think so? I've spent the last 5 seasons hoping she would die, never expecting that she actually would until last night. It will be very disappointing if she lives.Headhunter wrote:Dany? I wish. :x

Re: Game Of Thrones
The writing has been pretty horrible for a few seasons, saved by occasional funny lines. Now every plot point is rushed and lazy on top of it. It's still incredibly entertaining, but in a dumb fun kind of way.

Re: Game Of Thrones
Pretty much, but I still blame the showrunners. They're the ones that decided "we need to end this, and in this many episodes", so it's on them for changing the tone of the series. Either way, Jon was always gonna kill Dany, but it won't be because of the prophecy like in the books, it'll just be because she went mental. And for what? Missandei? Because "no one loves me"? Seems a bit ridiculous considering all the other shit she's been through to this point that this is what makes her go full Aerys and burn them all.Headhunter wrote:https://mobile.twitter.com/DSilvermint/ ... 1261136896
Also, the Hound/Mountain fight was disappointing. I knew it would be since the Mountain turned into a zombie ages ago, but still, I really wanted that fight to be good. The Mountain wrecking the maester was great, though.

Good thread. It does feel a bit like we Spent years building stuff up only to tear it down in minutes.

Hound and Mountain felt a bit unsatisfying. But again, clearly at the needs must stage of the season.

Re: Game Of Thrones
Headward’s twitter thread is interesting, and now I’m more interested in when the shift happens because maybe I’m more of a plotter guy, at least with this type of story. I’ll reserve judgment until the end of course but I am halfway through now, so balls deep in the GRRM stuff, and it’s a soap opera. Not in general terms, but cut the budget and move it to 11am on weekdays and it will fit right in. If I wasn’t force-fed years of Days Of Our Lives I ain’t keeping up with this shit nearly as well. Like the thread said it’s not necessarily a bad thing, but most soap operas being a product of pantsing frequently let weeds grow until there is no choice but to cut em off.
Just for such a sprawling epic, I’d think you’d want a tighter rein on things lest chaos.
