I've been listening to a movie pod from The Ringer called The Rewatchables. Really entertaining, highly recommend. They do a "casting what ifs" segment every show, and the one for The Departed is pretty amazing. Outside of Leo they got none of their first choices.

Matt Damon's part was supposed to be Brad Pitt
Jack Nicholson's part was supposed to be Al Pacino
Mark Wahlberg's part was supposed to be Ray Liotta (Denis Leary second choice)
Martin Sheen's part was supposed to be Robert DeNiro (decided to be in The Good Shepherd instead)
Alec Baldwin's part was supposed to be Mel Gibson (was busy filming Apocalypto)
Anthony Anderson's part was supposed to be RZA

I need to see this alternate version of The Departed

Didn't mention it but a good question.

Really really enjoying the episodes I've listened to so far.

They scored with Nicholson, but yeah I’d like to see that.

Yeah. Pacino would have corn-balled this role to death. Nicholson found a nice balance. Legit and scary but you don't have to take him TOO seriously.

I wouldn't change any of those castings not even Brad Pitt and that's possibly my favorite actor

Not that I can recall. Interestingly, he did kick a little money into the production of The Departed. So he really liked the film, just probably had stuff going on.

Why the fuck do you argue about bullshit with me all day when you can just watch that movie?

Jesus Christ. Like listening to a Jehovah's Witness at your door instead of fucking the hot piece of ass in your bed.
