Re: November 14th 2019
Kid at a local high school this morning walked into school, pulled out a handgun, shot five people (one dead so far) and then shot himself in the head. It was his 16th birthday.
Just beyond comprehension.

What the fuck is wrong with these kids...
Re: November 14th 2019
Just found out my cousin's wife's friend has a son who died at the shooting (he wasn't the shooter).

Re: November 14th 2019
Hate to say it but it's not surprising that it happened here at all and a lot of people around me have said the same. It was always in the back of my mind.

Re: November 14th 2019
I can't wrap my head around it. And the kids killing themselves after going on the rampage don't help much for solving the mystery of why... Thinking back to when I was that age - young, dumb and naive - at my worst I wanted people to feel sorry for me and/or regret hurting me or making me angry. Never in a million years would I consider murdering anyone, though. Crazy to think about. We can't live in unison.

Agreed on all accounts. I think why they kill themselves is because 1. They're too big of pussies to face the consequences, and 2. They want us to keep guessing why. I also could never murder someone. Only in self defense, or if they killed someone close to me.Jason wrote:I can't wrap my head around it. I read something about a dude who killed a guy because he caught him molesting his 5 year old daughter or some shit. I mean, anyone would do the same. I can totally sympathize.
Re: November 14th 2019
There's an MMA fighter's daughter (technically step daughter) who went missing a couple of weeks ago. She was last seen on surveillance at a Chevron looking concerned about some guy behind her in the store, who happened to be her kidnapper. They caught the thug, but she hasn't been seen since and he isn't talking. I've been following the case pretty closely and even I have some pretty evil thoughts on what I'd like to do the scumbag. We've all got it in us to commit some horrific shit, we just have different buttons. The shittiest thing is the guy has a massive history of crime. Three attempted 1st degree robbery charges, two 1st degree kidnapping charges, and three attempted murder charges. Two attempted murder charges were this year alone, and he was still somehow allowed to walk free and thanks to that, a great dude lost a loving sweetheart of a young daughter. 19 years old. She hasn't been found, but there's almost no way she will be found alive, if found at all. I've felt sick for the guy ever since the news broke. By all accounts she has a great head on her shoulders and is a role model of a young lady.Jmac Attack wrote:Agreed on all accounts. I think why they kill themselves is because 1. I imagine the amount of coverage these things get is a factor. That would be very appealing to a sick mind who feels like the invisible man or the school punching bag. That said, I'm not sure it's reasonable to expect the media to just ignore it.

What a nightmare. As awesome as it is to be a parent, it comes with a fear that something like this will happen. At least to some degree, it's pretty much constant.Jason wrote:There's an MMA fighter's daughter (technically step daughter) who went missing a couple of weeks ago. The kid needs to be degraded. I don't care if he's underage. When I'm two years old I know how wrong it is to shoot up a school. None of this "maybe the poor kid was bullied" shit. If indeed future school shooters are observing, they need to see that this shit is not condoned. It doesn't matter what the fuck you went through in your life, what you just did is immeasurably worse than anything you endured.Monster wrote:I imagine the amount of coverage these things get is a factor. He's a world class MMA fighter, fighting at the heaviest weight class in the highest organization, and even he is incapable of protecting his daughter from things like this. I would love a child someday, but I can't even imagine the stress I'd have to endure, especially if I have a daughter.Monster wrote:What a nightmare. Oh, I agree completly that they shouldn't be painted in a sympathetic light. That just encourages others.Jason wrote:The kid needs to be degraded. I don't care if he's underage. My take: Innocent lives were lost, put the politics away, let the families grieve and push the narrative that it is not OK to go on a murder spree because you had a bad day.

Not being condoned means jack when you’re just going to blow your head off before you can even reflect on what you’ve done. The only consequences are a choice they willingly make.Jason wrote:The kid needs to be degraded. I don't care if he's underage. When I'm two years old I know how wrong it is to shoot up a school.
