I got a job in furniture sales since I've been in furniture for the past thirteen years. I received a total of one day of training(i.e. followed the manager around while he helped customers) before being thrown out to fend for myself. I've never done sales, so I was expecting more training in that regard. The store is right next to a discount furniture store, so people usually leave to go there due to the price. The manager also does sales, and has been there for twenty years, so everyone just wants to deal with him. All online orders are directed to his email, so none of the other salespeople get any of those opportunities. He also undercuts everyone. He'll tell us we can only do a certain margin, then tell the customer he can do better, thereby stealing your sale/customer. Total shitshow. I had been there for two months, with no training, and the manager was expecting me to hit the same sales goals as people that have been there for years. The guy was absolute garbage as a person and a manager. If I was his boss, I would have fired him, but the owners only look at the numbers(which he is always leading in, because of his advantages).

So yeah, I was expecting to be fired by the end of the month, because I wasn't putting up with his bullshit. I've been applying elsewhere in the meantime, but haven't had any luck as of yet. Had one interview I bailed on because the place and interviewer were sketchy as hell. Had another that went well until, at the very end, the guy asked me how excited I was about the position on a scale of one to ten. I replied with a nine, because nothing's perfect, and I don't bullshit people. He said that's not good enough, so fuck that place too. I've got several other applications floating around, but don't have my hopes up for anything. I've got enough saved up that I can not worry about it for at least a year, which is why I said I'd fuck off at that point if I don't find anything.

The other salespeople bitch about him all the time to no effect. The owners don't care, which just exacerbates the problem. As long as they're making money, they don't give a fuck what he does. They're obviously not too bright, since if they had a good manager, everyone would be making more sales and, in turn, making them more money.
