Happy Saturday. Ceri coming down with a cold or flu thing. Staying in bed. Low key day for us it is.
Re: November 28th 2020
I heard The Final Girls is on Hulu now and I've never seen it so I'm getting a pizza later and watching that

While I'm not a shitter on any of those, I still agree lol I really think Jon Favs should be shepherding the franchise.Tiggnutz wrote:The Mandalorian is better than all the prequels and sequels by alot.

Dammit. Fender is releasing a new American Strat Professional II, called Dark Night, and it looks freak'n gorgeous (and I already like strats). Black pickguard (major plus), a silvery blue fade into black color on the body. Electronics basically the same as the rest of their higher end stuff. Very tempted. Very very tempted.

Update on little cousin:
The damage isn't as bad as initially thought.
X-rays show a fractured jaw and skull but nothing so bad as needing surgery. The nerves they thought were damaged aren't as bad as they thought (I know he had a swallow test today and I think he passed it? I haven't gotten 100% clear word on that yet but that seems to be how things are being worded) and he has a few fractured molars that will fall out on their own. Right now it looks like he's just got to heal up some, mostly, superficial wounds. They said as long as he doesn't get an infection or anything he should be able to go home sooner rather than later. He's still at risk of a stroke, but they are watching him for that. The main thing right now is he won't ever be able to ride a bike or play sports due to the risk of a fall/impact injury that could cause the bullet fragments to move into his brain stem.
No word yet on any charges/fines or the like for my cousin or her boyfriend.
My biggest fear in this is they go right back to behaving like they usually do and pretend God and prayer saved him (rather than pure fucking luck) and they don't have to change anything about the way they are living. I can already see those signs in their comments and I fucking hate it. These cousins are not mature, responsible, or mentally stable enough to be gun owners yet they are the biggest gun freaks of the family that see their access to a gun as something that makes them a hard ass and tougher than they are.
I predict my next family drama is one of these cousins dies in a shootout over drugs or a guy (or both). Like I can't even give a fuck anymore. Over the past few months, every time I've interacted with family I'm left with the thought of "How the fuck am I related to these people?" These are the people who used to say I was book smart but had no common sense. And I fucking believed them for a long time.
This morning my mom called me and I accidentally forgot to filter myself so I think she's mad at me now. She said, "I never thought anything like this would happen." I laughed and said, "Ma, are we really that surprised? I mean really? The only thing I can think of being less surprised by is you calling me to say Kaye (my sister) OD'ed." Then she had to go all of a sudden. Oops.

lol @ that last part. I'd hate to laugh, but really can't resist it. It's tragic hilarity.
(change of subject) I'm probably gonna get that guitar. I can financially do it, which is surprising.

Gah, they are absolutely the types that should have their 2nd amendment right taken away after this, if nothing else.

Get that guitar D.
Dream, I think your reply was spot on and definitely was warranted. glad the kid will be ok, albeit with a bullet in their head. Just a shame nobody takes notice and sorts themselves out.

So they just leave loaded guns around the home? They should never be able to legally own firearms again, that’s ridiculous.
Not removing until John Elway is fired.

That’s what I’d have thought. Sounds insane that isn’t the direction of travel

The cops took the gun the little one shot himself with then emptied the others and left them, and the ammo, in the house.
Sorry, but if a kid shoots themself with someone's gun, that person should lose the right to own one. At a bare minimum they should have their guns confiscated until they complete a gun safety course that includes training on gun safety around kids specifically.

Franklin County, Alabama, for anyone curious.
I think it's the county sheriff's office handling things rather than the city police proper and it happened in Isbell, AL, which I don't think even has a police department. Had it happened in Russellville (the city proper) the guns most likely would have been confiscated. (I looked into this further, Isbell isn't recognized as it's own city, it's considered outside of Russellville but has a zip code that reflects it's in Russellville, but it's actually not according to the city. So it's a part of the city, but it's also not. The addresses are Russellville based, but no police and no fire services from the city, just mail delivery and the county sheriff covers it. It might be one of the areas that falls into a fire services black hole of coverage, too, in that there's no fire department that will come out if that area has a fire in it. Neighbors put it out or it burns down and the houses there are close enough together that it would burn a lot of houses before it burned out.)
It really is such an inefficient and fucked up system.
The county sheriff has always been a bit of a joke on corruption and slicked palms, but I mean, come the fuck on, at least pretend to do the job right and take their guns while the investigation is underway.

Good grief. I'd think even most gun owners would take issue with this.Dream wrote:you're going to love this:Headhunter wrote:So they just leave loaded guns around the home? They should never be able to legally own firearms again, that’s ridiculous.
