December 27th, 2020

Post by Jigsaw »

So I'm working on compiling a pool of horror films from 2020 to select from to watch in January. At the beginning of this year, I watched something like seven movies from 2019, so I think I'll aim for between 8 - 14 or so.

If there's any great horror films from this year, let me know.

And also, hope that everyone is having a calm day following the holidays.

Good Enough:
Shortcut
Possessor - Uncut, but it's more a thriller
Underwater - ripoff, but decent
Sputnik
The Platform aka El Hoyo
The Babysitter 2
Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight - ripoff or homage, still a decent watch
Skull: The Mask - haven't seen it yet, but it looks great, so I'm putting it here

Meh:
They Reach
What Lies Below - again, more a thriller
The Call
Uncle Peckerhead
Gretel and Hansel
The Owners

Bad:
Spree - Steve's hair couldn't save this shit
GetAWAY - not a likeable person in the film
MOM: Mothers of Monsters - emo, the movie
The Invisible Man - laughable plot

Dog Shit:
Books of Blood - what did you do to my boy?
The Pale Door - Bordello of Blood, as a western, and boring as all hell

Hm, I threw Getaway in based off the plot, but doesn't sound like I'd dig it. The Invisible Man I'm leaning toward watching just because I'm curious how they updated it from the original classic.

Thanks for the list.

The only one I saw on Slaughter's list was Invisible Man, and I'm on the camp that nearly loved it.

We Summon The Darkness was decent, though I see it mentioned as both 2019 and 2020 so I don't know where to go from there.

Getaway or GetAWAY? Two different films, same year. The one I'm talking about is kids making a horror movie who get killed off by someone...making a movie. The other one looked like it could be ok, but I haven't seen it.

I think I'm the only person that thinks it's shit. I just could not suspend disbelief on that one. Too many confusing moments for me.

I thought it was 2019, so I didn't include it. It would go in the "Meh" column if I did.
