A few issues:

- trans people are mentally ill in that, at minimum, they are gender confused. Among the most basic parts of the human psyche, is broken.

- any conversion therapy impacts their ability to serve, hormones, surgery, etc.

- tax payers should not be on the hook to pay for gender transition

- the military is not the place for social experiments

- policy in the military should not be crafted around such a tiny minority

- how many trannies are interested in serving if you take away the gender transition being government funded?

was the military (and taxpayers by extension) paying for transition, in regard to the trans soldiers that were already serving, before this decision?

had those trans soldiers been given a pass, as far as boot camp and other requirements to get in, before even serving in the military?

i don't. i didn't say that they were the same. only that viagra does nothing to make you a better or more effective soldier. if the woman's dysfunction was about not being able to have sex, i would question looking to the military to provide that kind of medication.

Why try to set it up as an all or nothing? The military is about setting standards, not about exceptions. I have no doubt there are many folks who are legally blind, asthmatic, obese, flat-footed, diabetic, trans, etc. who could be great soldiers, but that is not how the military operates.
