Out of all the movies for Best Picture i've only seen Joker, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Parasite.

Bong beat Tarantino for screenwriting, Scorsese for directing and the field in a pretty stacked year for Best Picture. That's a pretty amazing Oscar sweep.

Yeah, but honestly it's the most original of all the other nominees. I can't really think of another movie off the top of my head that is quite like Parasite. The rest are dime a dozen, but just by high profiled Directors.

Was there really even a people's choice candidate this year? Outside of Ford vs. Ferrari, feel like every movie had vocal proponents. I like how wide open it felt, I would have been fine with half the movies winning.

Joker is very vocal with the general public. Not that I expected it to have a shot at anything outside music and actor, but like last year the general public really wanted Black Panther to take it.

Some historical justice for a fairly embarrassing number of duds winning throughout the 50s and 60s while Kurosawa and the French New Wave guys were changing cinema

Because we need superhero movies to dominate literally every facet of the industry...

And until this was brought up, I actually thought The Last Emperor was foreign language. I haven't seen it, I just thought it was this whole time.

dime a dozen? i didn't get that impression from 1917 or jojo rabbit. granted i haven't seen them, yet. they looked really good, maybe i'm wrong. but parasite looks like a great too, so i'm not bitching that it won, at all.

I thought it was a stacked category in a great year. Can't argue with Parasite winning, it was an outstanding movie.

I'm perfectly happy with Parasite winning. I preferred 1917 & OUTIH obviously, but like Head says, it was a great year.

Also, seeing Oscar Issac with a beard made me think he should play Martin Scorsese in a bio pic :P
