Please don't remind me that I'm already backlogged on tournaments. It doesn't matter!

I know good horror remakes exist, but I don't know if I've even seen ten horror remakes that I liked enough to make such a list. I'll look into it tomorrow at some point.

TCSM I will say isn't my favorite horror movie, but it is kind of the ultimate horror movie. Probably the most realistic one ever. Feels almost like watching a snuff film. That incredible voice acting in the very beginning just brings you right into the element of pure horror.
The film which you are about to see is an account of the tragedy which befell a group of five youths.
They could not have expected, nor would they have wished to see as much of the mad and macabre
As they were to see that day. For them, an idyllic Summer afternoon drive became a nightmare.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite. There are quite a few I've loved as if they were #1. Many I feel are still deserving.
what are your top 10? how many do you love as if they're the #1?

I have no idea if this link will work for you, but I've seen only 23 horror films from 1976, and there's certainly not that many great ones:

Eaten Alive really wasn't that bad. Kinda dug it.
It's been years since I last saw it, but I thought it was just okay. It could have been better, but I did like the setting and atmosphere. At the same time, it's not one that I've seen in recent years, so I can't fairly comment on it, but I do think it'd be hard to move above Alice, Sweet Alice.
I've been sitting on Alice Sweet Alice for like 15 years because the DVD was always out of print. Arrow finally released a blu ray of it and I bought it about a month ago. Finally gonna watch it for the first time this October.

That's going to be the fun of it, Jiggy.
Yeah, let's do this shit. Let's get this shit done, then we'll revisit our all-time op 25, then I'll get that tournament done that I already hinted at starting but actually did absolutely nothing.

I've never wavered. I think the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is the best horror film ever made.
When I was big on making lists like 10-15 years ago, Psycho was generally on top. Re-Animator, The Evil Dead, Halloween kinda rounded out the top 4, I think. TCSM was definitely in the top 50 if I ever made one.
Today, though. After letting all these movies sit for so many years, wisdom and experience settling in, my choice is probably Friday the 13th IV: The Final Chapter. The ultimate slasher film in the ultimate horror franchise.
It's a good pick. I like 2 & 3 more, but 4 is kinda the defining slasher movie IMO.
Friday is just the GOAT movie franchise for me. In any genre. The run of quality from 1-6 are unmatched by any other franchise.

Ain't no casual viewing like most of the 70s and 80s horror we love. That shit still gets under my skin to this day. Fucking incredible.

I don't have a top ten. It's too hard to rank at this point.
Randomly...
Halloween, The Evil Dead, Phantasm, Re-Animator, The Fog, The Thing, Sleepaway Camp, Near Dark, Silent Night Deadly Night, among many others...

I choose to compartmentalize and consider The New Beginning to be the last legit installment. So I agree. Five very good movies in a row.

Yeah, that's a special "once in a while" movie. I do that with all my favorites. Wait a while so the mystique is always there.

Dawn of the Dead remake is still one I can watch on a loop and not get bored of.
