as for spielberg vs. scorsese... spielberg has worked within a wider range of genres and managed great films in most of them. but scorsese has made better films from within his wheelhouse.

Why is Cape Fear so underappreciated?

John Carpenter is better than both of them, though.

He is GOAT director, imo.

I think as a pure director, Scorsese is on another level than either of them. But both Carp and Spielberg tell more varied stories, of certainly are much more fun.

He has good epics, but I enjoy Carpenter's movies more.

When Scorsese strays too far from the gangsters and Catholic guilt, people don't usually like it. He's definitely experimented

Wilder and Hitchcock are in the discussion, unfortunately for the haters. Spielberg and Scorsese probably have the most very good/great movies, and Coppola having the best peak.

Who could hate Hitchcock? He is my #2 all time. Probably should be #1, though.

Some think it goes "over the top" in the end. I don't, I like it pretty darn well. It's in my ten, without question, right around The Aviator and The King of Comedy.

Sometimes the haters need to be reminded of things like the dude dropping Vertigo, North by Northwest and Psycho in a two year period. Hitch is the king as far as I'm concerned.

Wilder might be the GOAT writer though.

Does Dead Heat count as horror? I was looking to buy that movie like 15 years ago and it slipped away. Found it at a Pawn Shop for 2 dollars a few weeks ago and when I got home I actually realized what fucking movie it was. lol.

The effort Hitchcock went through with his movies. I don't think any director ever loved his job more than Alfred Hitchcock. Dude read Psycho, bought as many copies as he could so he could make the film for an unexpected audience. That is fucking dedication. And it is one of the greatest horror movies ever. Last time I ranked horror movies it was ranked #1.
