Pointless? The point was to take the QB down, which is his job. Late hits are a part of football, like flagrant fouls in basketball.

My mistake. I didn't realize if one person gave a cheap shot, that necessarily means all other cheap shots on the premises did not exist. Logically sound stuff there.

Garrett made a lame duck tackle and laid on top of Rudolph to try to overcompensate for the tackle he wished he would've made. Whether or not you think Rudolph threw cheap shots, they pale in comparison to Garrett trying to kill him.
