That’s the most egregious part, they dress it up innocuous and accidental but they look deliberate, as with the crazy cops photo. Doing it repeatedly adds to the issue.

But on a more interesting point I remember watching this program about indigenous tribesmen in South America. These people had never communicated with anyone from the outside world before. When scientists went there to study them and try to communicate with them they were surprised to find that they knew and used the OK sign themselves. It's possibly one of the oldest forms of communication between humans in all of history.
