Exactly. It's the political epidemic in liberal Hollywood and mainstream media. Gross stuff. It influences others on the left to view people on the right in the way they try to portray them in the media and in some movies. Since Trump's election and the liberal outrage in Hollywood and news media projecting their identity politics, I have been accused of being racist and sexist on here, etc... Why should I give you money if you're gonna throw a tomato at me? Not cool. I didn't throw a tomato at you.

The whole MAGA thing just feels so much like a cult in so many ways. Just has the feeling of a fraternity for a very specific brand of angry white dude. And they'll gladly sacrifice things they enjoy to continue feeling like they're part of that team. They all get a high off that "us against the world" feeling and it gives them a sense of purpose.
I just wonder how this dynamic will eventually manifest itself on the left. The right has the advantage of Republican brand loyalty carrying them so they only ever need a small minority of die-hard supporters.

You find the exploration of racism in films to be objectionable. In this very thread, you were offended by a music video featuring an interracial couple because it was "forced". What offends you guys is so embarrassing, it's hard to imagine you guys taking the victimhood thing too seriously.

There is always the 20% core voter base on both sides. You'll see it in every election cycle. Hillary had the same cult that Trump has. Obama had his 20% cult, Bush, etc... The 20% you're seeing on the left right now is the cult of everything anti-right. They cannot be reasoned with and cannot possibly think any less of you as a human being. That 20% is always the loudest in the room, and that 20% is the media and celebrities, and when they're echoing these sentiments through the news and in movies, it is a dangerous and divisive thing.
When you mentioned "sacrificing things you enjoy", you also brought up Quentin Tarantino earlier after I mentioned I enjoyed Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I know QT is a liberal, I know Leo is a liberal, I know Brad Pitt is a liberal. I enjoyed that movie, knowing full well how liberal nearly everyone in that movie is. I enjoyed it because I wasn't hit in the face with a tomato at any point of the show. It was a great movie and didn't inject any lecturing about why I am a horrible person for not sharing the same political views.

It's pretty clear that you can't handle any form of entertainment that challenges your worldview. Fully invested in the "us against the world" nature of the Trump cult.

It doesn't challenge my worldview, it projects its cancerous "you're wrong, I'm right, my way or the highway" approach to everything that doesn't associate with their worldview, it lectures me about what a racist and sexist person I am because I have those views and how I am simply not worthy of being a human being. That isn't how you conduct yourself if you want to have a meaningful interaction of the minds.

To the conservative auteur who wants to inject his politics into film/TV show, my concerns would be:
The writing, the acting, cinematography, pacing...
If it's well done, it's well done and I'll enjoy it. I don't need movies to re-enforce or even ignore my politics. Challenge me. Insult me. I don't care. Just make the shit good.

Thing is, you wouldn't care at all except that you've made being a MAGA guy your identity before anything else. You don't need to be a human bumper sticker, you choose to.

I almost exclusively ever discuss politics here. I criticize Trump when he's done something I do not like. I don't walk around in MAGA hats or have stickers on my cars. And even if I did, I would much prefer to have someone who opposes my viewpoints approach me with their point of view instead of throwing a milkshake at me because I voted for someone the media convinced you is Hitler.

I don't think you really want the opposing point of view. You shut your brain off when ideas you don't agree with are presented in entertainment and routinely turned into the clown any time I'd try to touch on race, I think you'd agree a waste of both of our time. You have your beliefs, you won't change them and you don't respect opposing viewpoints. You simply have a lot in common with the majority of people, it's okay.

You shut your brain off when ideas you don't agree with are part of movies and routinely turned into the clown any time I'd try to touch on race. You have your beliefs, you won't change them and you don't respect opposing viewpoints. You simply have a lot in common with the majority of people.
Your assessment couldn't be more wrong if you tried. It's one thing to have opposing viewpoints, it's a completely different thing to project them by classifying me in a group of people I don't belong with. You didn't "touch on racism", by the way. You flat out called me a racist multiple times and there was no convincing you otherwise, so you got what you gave and I trolled you with the "get black friends" bit that clearly eats at you. You give banter, you get banter. I thought this discussion was going pretty well until you started pointing the finger about me not wanting to be lectured politically and turning into me not being able to handle entertainment.
I have my beliefs, I likely won't change them (none of us likely will) and I completely respect opposing viewpoints when they're not projected in a way that says yours are better and mine are completely inferior and I am a terrible person for having them. There is no point in trying to get somewhere, because you can't be reasoned with. And since you can't be reasoned with, it is my fault because I won't bend to your views, because I am the terrible person, and any (any) response I give to that is going to be interpreted as me shutting my brain off to opposing viewpoints. There is no point in discussing politics with people who can't be reasoned with.

Yeah no, you're conflating arguments, I didn't call you a racist in any of the two or three situations I'm describing where I made an effort to teach you something on the topic of race only to have you diarrhea spray all over it and be a clown. Can't retroactively use things I said later to defend past behavior.

Also, don't give yourself too much credit, "get black friends" never really landed. It did kinda make you look bad but that's fine.

How many times have I extended the olive branch and gave you the i love you stuff after we bicker about politics and you're just never taking it. You've stated that you think I'm scum in your own words on this board, and when you said it, you did so in a way that is much harsher than the way I just described. Seems to me you might be the one who can't handle opposing viewpoints.

Basically, you're insecure about the idea that there are things I know that you don't that you could learn. I assume there are countless things you could teach me that I don't know.
You need to get over yourself dude.

Maybe you had bad relationships with past teachers or mentors because for me, there's nothing more enriching than learning. And there's nothing embarrassing about being in a position to learn. In the end, collective knowledge increases and everyone wins.

You don't like people getting overtly political in entertainment unless it's with what you're down with, ain't no big deal. It's just skewed because it's all one side with that cesspool industry.

It always has been, yo. Older stuff doesn't hit because we were too young to understand the context of it all.
