I think we can all agree that DC's live action movies are all terrible and have zero value, whereas MCU is one of the best batch of movies that possibly could ever exist in a just world.

Got one of my packages, and The Town That Dreaded Sundown wasn't in it, even though the packing says it was. They're issuing a refund (my choice, since it wasn't really a priority piece). But the other blu rays came in, other than the Braveheart (not shipping till July), Gladiator (not shipping till june, purchased on Amazon since Best Buy isn't letting you preorder that for some reason), and the Shout Factory Escape From LA.

dc try to reach for more than they can actually grasp, in my opinion. it falls short in the execution, a little bit. marvel is more streamlined making movies as more of a product. they both have value to offer.Jigsaw wrote:I think we can all agree that DC's live action movies are all terrible and have zero value, whereas MCU is one of the best batch of movies that possibly could ever exist in a just world.

Just about there. Finish off some emails. This is where permanently working from home is a hazard as you never really switch off. Clocking 50-70 hour weeks at the minute.Tiggnutz wrote:Is it over are you chillingshowa58taro wrote:Long day, and long week.

Re: May 22nd 2020
To be fair to DC, I actually haven't seen Man of Steel, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Batman vs. Superman, or pretty much anything they've done since The Dark Knight Rises (which obviously wasn't in their extended universe).
I'm a comic book guy, and I enjoy a decent amount of DC comics (though I personally collect Marvel), but aside from a few of their movies, they don't do it for me. I'm not saying that Marvel's perfect, because they're definitely not (look at Thor: Dark World or Iron First and Luke Cage's Netflix series'), but they know how to do movies better.

which dceu films have you seen, to make that compare and contrast? you mentioned the netflix shows, so i have to ask if this is more about on the tv level, like arrowverse vs. agents of shield and netflix's stuff?Jigsaw wrote:To be fair to DC, I actually haven't seen Man of Steel, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Batman vs. Superman, or pretty much anything they've done since The Dark Knight Rises (which obviously wasn't in their extended universe).

Re: May 22nd 2020
Green Arrow is such an interesting character (in the comic books). In the comics, he is generally shown as a leftist, with his politics (which range from left-leaning Democrat to socialist, depending on the writer) being a big part of his character, and why he does what he does. As soon as I heard that politics weren't relevant to his character in the show, I instantly had zero interest.zombie wrote:which dceu films have you seen, to make that compare and contrast? you mentioned the netflix shows, so i have to ask if this is more about on the tv level, like arrowverse vs. agents of shield and netflix's stuff?Jigsaw wrote:To be fair to DC, I actually haven't seen Man of Steel, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Batman vs. Superman, or pretty much anything they've done since The Dark Knight Rises (which obviously wasn't in their extended universe).

I've not seen Arrow, or Supergirl, or Flash, or any DC show. Also worth mentioning I'm not caught up on Agents of SHIELD, so no spoilers please.
My first comment was just me fucking around. I'm making no judgment on DC's extended universe as I've not seen any of them.

even in the last comment, you mentioned that marvel knows how to do movies better. but you haven't seen any of the more current dc films. it's a little bit weird to me.

I was talking purely based on what I've heard and the ratings I've seen for most of those movies. The exceptions seem to be Joker and maybe Wonder Woman. I don't pretend to be an expert on DC's poor output.

Re: May 22nd 2020
See? Nice bait
I think Zack Snyder is a great visual storyteller, but like Tim Burton, can't identify a good solid script when it's in front of him. WB did rush those scripts out on him, but I'm don't criticize for just one screw that came lose. His DC stuff still had goods to offer in spite of not being perfect.
Aquaman is incredibly fun, and my favorite of the DCEU stuff. He's more inspired by 90's bad-ass aquaman (aside from the racial difference, but this is one of those rare times where the race swap actually works in the character's favor, like Red in Shawshank Redemption)

Joker doesn't count as part of the extended universe.Jigsaw wrote:I was talking purely based on what I've heard and the ratings I've seen for most of those movies. The exceptions seem to be Joker and maybe Wonder Woman. I don't pretend to be an expert on DC's poor output.
Most of the ratings are more positive with the audience than critics. Critics just don't want to like Snyder in general. It's pretty much expected that any movie he puts out that's not Dawn of the Dead will get mixed to poor reviews.
