Yeah, it's basically the same, just up-ported and remastering. When I refer to OG, I'm basically mix/matching console variations anyway.
I did also love the RE2 remake but my original love and nostalgia was a little too much for it to overcome, so the original beats it out, but not by an enormous margin or anything. I never loved the original RE3 and the RE3 remake has been my least favorite of the most recent three remakes, but I think I prefer the remake over the original.
I get the nostalgia, plus I can't deny that the OG version's story narrative overlap is much better handled than the remake. Like 4, I refuse to put one above the other.

I didn't get into the original 3 either, and I liked the remake, but definitely didn't love it like the other remakes. Too short/quick, and the amount of gore missing from 2's stellar remake is mindboggling.
The voice acting is also overlooked by many in the original RE2.

People seem to hate the alternating character thing. Which I really don't mind very much, but I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea. I would use it to my advantage sometimes and have one character stationed at the door I will need to eventually get to, use the other character to grab items or whatever I need, come back to the room and switch characters, have the other character "follow me" from all the fuckin way on the other side of the room and go in the door I need to go in. Works like a charm and can save time. Lol

Can't argue that. It's my #2 by a tiny margin.

I've only played the original Zelda, never got the appeal.

I actually like 2 more than 1, which is considered blasphemy by the fans.

I like them pretty evenly and actually think I lean more toward II as well.

Zelda II is the red-headed stepchild of the series. I prefer the gameplay to the top-down gameplay the series was known for, but people didn't like how different it was.

Game nerd had a good video on it back in the day. It's difficult as hell. It was the first Zelda game I played as a kid but didn't play very much of it. In my early 20s I went on a rampage and beat all kinds of NES games that I either never played or hadn't beaten.

The more I think about it, the more I think I side with Zelda II over the original. Completing dungeons was just a touch more satisfying and the music is still among the best in the entire Zelda catalog.

I probably saw his video on it, but it's been ages since I watched his stuff. I have maps on grid paper that my mom drew of the dungeons for the first game, so I played the first quite a bit. I'd say it's more difficult, mainly due to the limited movement, but I can see an argument for the second being harder.

Agree about the music. Speaking of which:

They're both challenging in pretty different ways. It's easier to get lost in the original whereas with two the boss fights are insane and just getting where you need to go is a bitch, especially because when you die you have to start from all the way back at the beginning.

Youtube jumped the shark, that music video was during the era of peak Youtube.

I fucked myself in this game and might have to start over. Ol Billy boy is in danger, Rebecca is in orange caution and I'm low on ammo with no health in sight and I just got to the Giant bat boss fight. Totally fucked here. I keep dying either instantly or running out of ammo.

After approximately 25 attempts at getting past this boss with no health and almost no ammo, I abandoned Resident Evil Ø last night and moved on to the Resident Evil GameCube remake on the PS4 origins collection. This game is immediately creepier and more well done. Whenever I play the Resident Evil games I usually start with Ø and move my way to 4 (including Code Veronica, the superior Resident Evil 3). Every time I jump from Ø to the remake of the original I'm always blown away by how good it is right out of the gate. I've been arguing with myself for the last 15 years about which Resident Evil is my favorite and it's always between the remake, the original 2 and 4. As of this moment it's the remake of the original. 2 has held the top spot the longest though.

6) Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
5) Resident Evil: Code Veronica
4) Resident Evil Ø
3) Resident Evil 4
2) Resident Evil 2
1) Resident Evil (Gamecube)
