Not bad so far
Not loyal to the book or the previous films but on its own there is some enjoyment to be had. C+

Managed 3 in a day which is basically unheard of for me.

1. Totally Killer - really enjoyed and was indeed very much back to the future if it was a slasher. But good gore and a fairly memorable mask.

2. I spit on your grave 2 - didn’t realize they made a sequel to the remake. But they don’t hold back in either direction. Brutal. It is interesting and the second half pays off well. But the first half is pretty full on with its depiction of rape, assault and battery.

3. Killer Kites - Nazi war kite with sentience attacks the innocent. Honestly more fun to watch than several others even though it’s low budget and a bit college film attempt-y. Still fun

Lots of nudity so far which reminds me that I've seen next to none in my previous 23 films

The first Malevolence was a surprisingly decent slasher, especially for the early 00's. Whatever the cinematographer did to give it an 80's atmospheric vibe was a great choice.

The 2nd film doesn't seem to have the same cinematic eye, but I'm not sure if the director is using the same cinematographer or not. Not terribly shot, just noticeably not as well framed.

Just checked IMDB, yep, different cinematographer.

I also miss the sack-head style killer of the first movie. I know this is a prequel (and not a very good set/prop design for it), but still. It's missing that mojo.

With a weak 1st and 2nd act toying around with a lame Romeo & Juliet subplot, I was set to give this a C, but the 3rd kicked into gear, dropped that sorry ass subplot, and let Alexandria run around in a white tank and nipply, so it's getting bumped up to a B-.

1st viewing was Ghost Town (1988). A little bland. But pretty unique and enjoyable.

Starting Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things (1972) for a first time viewing. High expectations for this one.

Finishing off the DGD Halloween trilogy today. Noticed my Halloween Ends is not an extended cut version. Oh well.

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things was a bit of a let down. Very slow burn but it picks up in the last 15 minutes and the last 2 minutes makes it all pretty worth it. Weighing the pros and cons between this one and Ghost Town for favorite new viewing. I think I'm leaning Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things by a hair based on the final minute or two of the film.

Both get a 3/5

About to start up Crypt of Dark Secrets (1976).

The fact that it's by the same director of Mardi Gras Massacre doesn't bode well. :P

Though it was filmed in a Louisiana swamp, so it does have some potential.

The French Sex Murders has a Humphrey Bogart like inspector character played by a professional Humphrey Bogart impersonater.
