to be clear, seb's right. it doesn't really matter where it came from at this point. pointing fingers isn't going to make anything better. but that goes for all sides. if it's not okay to point at china and where they fell short and how much they're to blame. then it's also not okay to point at the united states and where we fall short and how much we're to blame. it's either bad to do it to anyone, or it's fair to do it to everyone. you can't have it both ways.

I got a sudden severe panic last night, worrying about my parents. I stayed up until nearly 9AM and got like 2 hours of sleep. They're cautious as they should be, but not mortified like I am. China is putting out that the U.S. started this virus and released it in Wuhan. It is a global pandemic that originated in and was covered up by China.

What difference does that make though. Branding it Chinese just adds to a strong level of racism and xenophobia already present and isn’t really an accurate point.

My mom is 58 and my dad is 60. They quit smoking many years ago, but my Mom is diabetic. I am especially scared for her.

I’m saying if that’s a line it isn’t one the UK otcSweden have given any credence to or stated in news media I follow so I have no awareness of it. China blaming the US is absurd if they mean that the US is the reason for the outbreak in China.

The US is absurd if it calls this the Chinese Virus or whatever as it is a global threat likely made worse by each country’s failure to use the time bought us by China’s strong and authoritarian response to the virus outbreak which was not matched by our own.
