NFL 2018: From the Draft to the Super Bowl

All sports. We don't even mind if its women's Curling or junior badminton. Although we won't have strong opinions on the latter.

The preseason seems a bad idea in many ways.

But it's so critical for the fringe guys.

I suppose. Just do a summer league type thing. Only bench players and squad hopefuls.

Size matters.

Lawrence Taylor was a little bigger than Miller is today. Lineman then were a good bit smaller than today. Taylor still would have been wiped out had he played inside other than as a novelty.

Reggie White enjoyed a physical mismatch over opposing lineman because he was bigger and stronger than opposing lineman of that era, in addition to being quick.

They are equally great, but with different attributes. Good luck stopping LT with a little space and good luck stopping Reggie in a phone booth.

It took Swag Kelly one drive to show more than Paxton Lynch has in three years as a Bronco.

Elway better kick that loser Paxton to the fucking curb this week, or he'll have to answer directly to me.

Pocket collapses, three Broncos closing in on Siemian, and what does he do? Poise. He barely finished his three step drop before the pocket implodes, sets his feet, delivers the ball on target and scores the TD. Stop doubting me, charlatans.

Splooge again, pocket collapses, excellent poise, completes the screen, 78 yard touchdown. Eat wieners.

And then typical Headfuckinuardo is gonna look at this play and be like "look how bad Trev sucks. Can't even avoid an untouched safety blitz as he's trying to catch the snap".

Nothing incorrect here. I just think even L.T. was certainly capable of not just performing, but performing exceptionally on the interior d-line. My only question is heavy work loads = more cardio burned. He'd actually have to be on cocaine during the games for this scenario.

I think you have to consider rules of that time and how it impacted game strategy, as well. Would you want LT caught in the middle of all the piles of the 80s? How might that impact his athleticism having guards and centers constantly cut blocking him, crack backing, and diving into him late? The physicality of his division and the interior running of that era looks nothing like today.

That's what I'm saying. Heavy work load = burned cardio.

And I don't know, I mean, I'm sure you're well aware of the Buddy Ryan bounty on L.T. that worked but only made him play better...

LT was great. One of the things that made him great was his combination of size and athleticism. He was not that much smaller than pass rushing DTs. That being said, he was still small enough that it would have to be a situational thing.

At that time, if he could have played inside more regularly, he would have. I think that is the most compelling argument as teams prioritized inside running on 1st and 2 down then, and he would have moved inside more if he was a better matchup than others.

Game was different. Consider Randy White shifting from DT to MLB to DT. Would never happen today.

Hey Jason, stop spamming the thread with your Siemian bullshit. Unless you're planning to be a Vikings fan, knock it off. It's gotten really old.

(He looked like shit for the most part, btw.)

He looked very good, as per the norm. Just posting the friendly reminder. Will have to coach Kirk on how to deal with consistent pocket collapsing, though, since that seems to be where Minnesota is at right now. QB performance of the night goes to Swag Kelly, if that makes you feel any better.

What would make me feel better is if you stop pining for a scrub backup on a team none of us are fans of. It's ridiculous.
