Their singer is a phenomenal guitarist.
Songwriter too
Listen to the Ballad of Brian Wilson. The second half of that song is so beautiful. Also, Good Night Song.

They're ok. I think hearing Plant with Zeppelin for so many years ingrained his vocals in my head to the classic rock genre. Hearing him outside of it was like seeing a teacher outside of school. You know who it is, but it's not what you're accustomed to.

As far as his solo stuff, I can really get behind "29 Palms" and "Big Log", those are two of my favorites from his solo career. And hearing him cover Johnny Horton's "I'm A One Woman Man" was also fun to listen to. But he will always be Led Zeppelin to me, Same with Page, Bonham, JPJ...
I heard Sea of Love and thought you would probably have loved that
Plant and the Honeydrippers only did like 5 songs, I think. I definitely don't dislike it, but he has better solo stuff. Check out the other two I mentioned. 29 Palms and Big Log, if you haven't heard them already.

Just read that Robert Plant was mortified at the success of Sea Of Love. It was released as the B side to Rockin' At Midnight but Sea of Love got more radio play and he feared people would no longer think of him as a rock n roll singer. lol.

To Plant's delight I'm sure, I prefer Rockin' At Midnight to Sea Of Love.

I liked Plants country shit with Allison Krause. But not enough to buy it. It was good though.

I definitely like, but hearing Plant outside of Zepp will always take some getting used to for me.

Jason, what did ya think of The Firm? Paul Rodgers is great. So is Page. I personally thought it was good. But not as good as Bad Company or Zeppelin of course.

Haven't heard enough to really give an opinion. Radioactive is good, though.

I had that record growing up. It's good. Not great though. I still need to hear Paul Rodgers with Queen. He can really sing. Has his own God given gift when it comes to tone. Have you checked that out? I am about to.....

I am OK with a Who greatest hits CD. I don't love them, but they are good. That song you posted from Townshend is the only song I know of from him when he went solo.

If you are impatient, skip to 1:16, but this might be Joe Walsh's best track and nobody even knows about it.

Yes. But as great as Simon & Garfunkel were, I've always considered them to be a watered down, diet-lite version of The Everly Brothers.

My oldest brother saw Joe Walsh in Columbus during the Confessor tour. He still has the shirt. Holes and all.
