1) 1987 Denver Defense, Cowgirls NFC superteam. Neither performance held a candle to Foles, regardless.
2) I don't think Philly ever wins a championship under Wentz. He has an erratic style of play that is not good for a deep playoff run

No, I actually was referring to Timmy Smith but you're right, Williams was the MVP. In either case, a great Super Bowl performance was not indicative of the player being a legit starter. Foles isn't a legit starter either. The story of Philly's playoff run was Doug Pederson's coaching.

Interesting that you, the guy who devalues championships for QBs more than any fan I know, is going to use "ringzzzz" here.

But I am referring to the performance. Ringz is team, but Foles made some of the most incredible, lights out throws ever in that game. It was special, and not a fluke.

Pederson is a great coach, I just don't see a playoff run connecting the way it did last year with Wentz under center.

Maybe not. Wentz is young and QBs often learn through early failures in playoffs. More importantly, it's likely Pederson's game planning is not on the same level with his starter playing and Wentz would be exposed to more potential turnovers as a result. Regardless, I don't see any of this proving Foles isn't just a backup. I still view him that way. Most of his career production indicates he is not a starter.

Nick Foles is certainly a curious case, as if I told you a guy had one of the five best passer rating ever in his age 24 season and then in his age 28 season, is Super Bowl MVP, you would think we are talking about a HOF lock.

If he spends the remainder of his career as a backup and never plays another game, you might have to say he is the greatest backup QB to ever play the game, which is a unique position.

I suspect teams who want that "bridge" QB for their 1st round picks to sit behind will covet Foles but being that he will be under contract for the foreseeable future, there is not much value in trading picks for him.

Philly is in an odd position. They banked on Wentz to be their franchise guy, and they are sticking to their guns despite winning a Super Bowl without him in the playoff run. If Wentz turns out to be injury prone, there will be no worry in Philly, as they have not traded Foles. But teams will certainly give up the farm in a trade for an MVP caliber QB and Philly could be in prime position to dominate for a decade.
