Right, but we'll never truly understand it the way they did. We're watching a movie where we know the spoiler, they lived in the actually movie not knowing what would happen next. Entirely different perspectives and all need to be respected.
Not 100% but there is enough information to fill in the blanks with a high level of confidence. “We only know what we’re told” is not correct.
I disagree with that. You can't just fill in the blanks, too much ideology is involved. Only knowing what we're told is very true to a certain extent.
It is not, you just have to do the work.

Sure, but we are not at war with China. We were at war with Japan. It was a scary time and it's hard to speculate on a political climate we didn't live through. We only know what we're told, we never lived it. The vast majority of details disappear over time.
i just don't see what it serves positively, from your position, to harp on china. and i hope you're not doing it anywhere that has a larger scope than hmf. :P
It serves nothing positively to wish Trump would've done something differently here as opposed to what he did here, etc... Covid-19 is not a positive thing, but we can stray away from the fact that they, and the WHO are the only parties responsible for every death that occurs.

There is undoubtedly going to be an effect on how Asian-Americans are treated. No doubt. Rhetoric is a powerful tool and must be exercised with the greatest caution.

Still think there’s insufficient outrage over Wisconsin data. The spike following the election is exactly evidence of why relaxing things now is dumb as fuck.

Anyone that gets mad at Chinese people in America and not the Communist Party of China and the cronies in the WHO are retarded.

Pretty sure we finally have some common ground, here.

It serves as a reminder of what needs doing since we aren’t there yet.

Since we're going with option 2, it would be wise to continue the quarantine for at least the remainder of the month, perhaps the first of May, and hope the data trends downward.

Of course. It can’t be downplayed though, it’s a real effect. This is why you can’t just be fast and loose with the rhetoric.

My mom’s co-worker experienced this first hand before things starting shutting down.

Example. Sounds like you’re talking about historical analysis, not historical record.

And things are being done. We've gained more knowledge about this virus through the Coronavirus task force than we have in any other preventative measure across the world. Cases are trending downward, and the gross overestimation of the virus was a fear-mongering tactic. It is a good thing Trump stuck to his guns.

I'm just throwing out hypotheticals here. What if a historical document is found that contradicts the entirety of a historical record?

Speaking of fast and loose rhetoric, what positive purpose do Trump’s “LIBERATE MICHIGAN!”, “LIBERATE MINNESOTA!” etc. tweets serve?

You can't allow McDonald's to be open but shut down sales of seeds and items to grow your own crops.

Depends on the availability of other documents covering the same period. Anything in the past century, that’s never going to be a problem. Bullshit is easily fazed out. There is too much information available. The further back you go, the less documentation is available to cross-examine. It’s all logical and scientific in nature. Anything from WW2 isn’t going to be a problem, particularly here.

“Trump wants us to take our state back! Let’s march!”

Fast and loose rhetoric endangering people’s lives. Another great example: “Try it, what have you got to lose?” with hydroxychloroquine.

just don't be the reason that they show themselves to be retarded. and shoot it down, if you see/hear the rhetoric being floated. that's the best you can do.

Wisconsin proves an interesting study on specifically breaking option 2 as you put it, because they forced everyone out to vote in person, and hence the fact that the resultant upwards trend in cases after a 7-10 day incubation period should be very worrying. Puts the May target even less likely as acceptable.
