They don't win more than 9 of their first 13 with Foles starting, and I think Philly has the best overall roster in the NFL. He was flat out awful in half the games he started.

Yes! And another loss in the first round. I'll take it, brotha!

Dude.....our defensive line talent is the best I've ever seen for the Bengals. I mean....I've seen better......but not for my team. It's unreal how good the kids are playing.

Yeah, that D-line is a really nice group. Lawson was a steal.

Offense could be as good as it's been with Dalton too. Offensive line improvement, Ross hopefully contributing and a healthy Eifert. Also think Mixon has a big year. It's a really, really talented team. They will challenge Pittsburgh for the North.

O/U for wins is 6.5. That's easy money.

Bet the house on it, Jason.

The roster carriedFoles (especially the D) for most of those Foles wins.

Not arguing about the roster, because I don't know one way or the other, but it is interesting how winning changes perception. How much different is the roster in week 3, when they were viewed as the 20th most likely team to win the Super Bowl, and the team that won it?

I personally thought they were a playoff team before last season and I wasn't sure if Wentz was any good at the time. I've been high on the talent for a while.

I feel like winning the Super Bowl is basically two crap shoots with some chances to influence the odds on the 2nd. Crap shoot number 1 is getting lucky on a QB. Land Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Big Ben, Rodgers, etc. and you are always lurking around the playoff picture and can get on a run. Don't land one and you are likely bumbling around purgatory.

Number 2 is simply avoiding that one big thing that knocks you out of the playoffs. The snap that dinks off the QBs helmet on the first series, the pass interference call, or whatever that changes the complexion of a game.

Number 3 is to build a monster defense. Those god-tier defenses are capable of 3-4 game runs of greatness if your offense just doesn't fuck up.

That's only a one year deal though. The only thing you can do to ensure years of contention is having the QB, but those teams have trouble building rosters around them once they get paid.

Haha.....true....but we Go 11-5......Steelers finish the season barely over .500, and beat us in the first round of the playoffs. This is the first year Lewis has had complete control. I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of his, but it's always been Mike Brown. Ugh

And I am gonna say there is ALWAYS a good amount of luck to the QB thing. Whether it be being bad in the year where a universally great QB is, having 5 or more teams pass over a generational QB, or simply having them not get injured, there is always a large amount of luck to it.

Some years you can be sitting there trying to figure out if Jim Druckenmiller or Jake Plummer is your best chance at turning your franchise around.

Of course. Nobody knows how to evaluate QBs. There's no way to simulate how a guy is going to react when he has 3 seconds to make a play with the best athletes in the world flying all around him.

NFL teams are doing a better job bridging the gap from college to the NFL with those guys though. They were way too stubborn for too long and it seems they finally realized it was only hurting them.

They are a small town team that bleeds free agents constantly, can't bring in marquee players ever yet have had a recent stretch of five consecutive playoff appearances. Realistically they couldn't do any better. They are typically well-coached and have drafted well in recent years.

Marvin Lewis is fine. Find a new slant.

It's insane that he wasn't let go after last year. I hope you get back into football at some point. Wentz is fun to watch. He reminds me of....dare I say it....Rodgers, in that he can make all of the throws. He's really good.

It's not insane. They are one of the most cash poor teams in the NFL and would have had to pay two coaches' contracts and scrap a program in place for 15 years while they have a ton of young talent developing.
