but he did say otherwise. very clearly.
"OK. Don't reach for it, then... Don't pull it out! DON'T PULL IT OUT!".
He also said
that very clearly. Gave him three chances to stop doing whatever the fuck he was doing and he didn't.
My guess is he was fucking with the cop to stir drama like so many retards do.
both of them fucked up. the guy announced he had a gun. the cop reacting to the word gun. i don't know what i would do in that situation, but i would expect to be held accountable if i fucked up and killed him.
Like losing your job, your career, having a good chunk of society calling you a cold blooded murderer because you feared for your life, and still facing a civil trial that will make you broke win or lose?

I'd hate that I killed the guy, too. But he was being a retard. I'm not gonna risk dying because this guy is a moron. And to think he should be punished for this is insane.
Acquittal is the winner.

Quit assuming he fucked up.
"License & insurance plz"
"Here's my license"
"OK"
"I got a firearm"
"Ok. Don't reach for it then." *reaches for something*
"Don't pull it out!" *continues not listening to cop*
"DON'T PULL IT OUT!"
Sounds to me like Castile fucked up. On purpose.
Again, the cop didn't have his license yet, he only had his registration. Castile hadn't completed the original instructions.

Acquittal is the winner.
Why was it retarded for him to try to get his driver's license? The alternative was basically saying "fuck you" and disobeying the cop.

When a cop is screaming at you to stop reaching, and you keep reaching, you're getting shot.

He told him to not reach for the gun. He said he wasn't. He was getting his license, per the instructions of the police officer. To not get his license would have been not following orders. That's on the police officer.

i guess so. at the very least, i would not want to be involved in a job where it dictated that i carry a fire arm again. i don't take my fuck ups lightly, and there isn't much worse ways to fuck up than that.

Nope. He hadn't given him his license yet and had just been ordered to give him his license. He also said he wasn't reaching for his gun. All the signs point to "he was going for the wallet".

Perhaps the cop was a good judge of character. Reminder that the angel Philando was pulled over by police at least 52 times, liked to drive intoxicated with a 4 year old in the car, and was co-polluting with a bitch who tried to kill another woman with a hammer this year.
The cop feared for his life because he knew thugs had a gun. They were not listening, and were reaching for something. Did the cop follow protocol? Apparently not, but I would have a hard time justifying putting him in prison.

You've made all these points before with all the wonderful rhetoric, and none of them excuse what the cop did. It just makes you look weird for needing this guy to be a criminal so badly.
Also, how were they not listening? The cop asked for his license and registration. He didn't hand him his license up to that point. He was following instructions.

What is so weird about acknowledging the cop was afraid? The actions indicate this. His statements indicate this.
On that particular day a cop came across some shady characters and upon learning they had a gun in the car and believing they were going to use it, he shot one of them. He has remorse, lost his career, and poses no threat to society. I simply do not believe jail time is the correct answer. You obviously do.
To me, the criminal part was resolved as our society's laws dictate. He still faces a civil trial. What do you want to do, drag him behind a truck or stone him to death?

Exactly. Like a soulless psychopath who might try to murder someone with a hammer. Like the kind of person you might fear if you were to pull them over.

Natural reaction.
