All the famous LA riots led to significant police department reforms. LAPD used to be the biggest band of crooks in the country.
I cant sacrifice a city because of shitty cops and I never will. Especially today
Cool, you have that privilege. They don’t target you or me.
You cant speak for that community no more than I can. Making more people suffer is never the answer. I dont want Minneapolis to become Baltimore and this is exactly what leads to that.
I’m not speaking for them. They’ve clearly spoken for themselves. They’re fucking sick of this.
Looters and vandals dont speak for the community
Really, where do they live?
Let's look at that city 2 years from now than we can tell if destroying your own shit was the best course of action
LA ended up much better off and those riots were much worse.
Did you lose anything in those riots did you sacrifice something? We are wanting the same thing but both of us are playing with house money nothing to lose.

Do you really the expect the abused to just sit and take it? There’s always a breaking point. We’ve seen what it looks like and it’s bad. I care less about property damage than I do about war in the streets. Good cops and good people dying in the process. “We can live with bad cops” won’t cut it in the next few years in this economy.

And if anti-police violence escalates, the militarization and occupation of cities will further escalate. We’re downhill with no brakes.

it is broken. does that mean anything and everything is fair game in justification to affect the change in the police department? are there any lines that you would draw at all, or no?
If what’s happened in Minneapolis is what it takes to affect change and that’s enough to get it done, it’s absolutely worth it. Of course, that’s unlikely. But if cops continue to murder black people during an economic depression, things will get 100x worse than people stealing tires. You want a repeat of the early 70s, with black militant groups committing real acts of terror? All our war with cops in every city? That will happen if America continues to allow this.
yeah, it could get worse. no, i don't want that. obviously.

I think they are going to nail this cop to the wall and well deserved my guess because its election time he gets mad federal charges so I change my original guess of 10-15 6 years in to 10-20 with 10 years in.

Nobody does. Nobody wants people stealing tires either but we’re better off if that’s the worst we get.

It’s less about the individual thug cops than it is about the culture that produces them and doesn’t hold them accountable until it’s really too late. This man had a rap sheet of incidents as a cop so long there’s no way he should have been in the position to kill George Floyd.

Real punishment is a deterrent and a step in the right direction. That could of happened here if we had a real States Attorney who wasn't trying to become a celebrity and brought charges that had a chance of success

So it’s better to do nothing and let the greater of two evils overwhelm us? You can’t pick and choose the bits you’re comfortable with like it’s a real option, you have to make compromises and live with the negative effects.

no, it's gonna happen or not, regardless of me. all i can do is react. all i'm doing here is posting to friends on a message board.

Did you not say you wouldn’t sacrifice a city because of shitty cops? Are we going to pointlessly argue semantics when the implications are clear?

Cops protect cops. One guy may go down, cops pay lip service to the media and go about their business.
