cabin in the woods? i mean it's mostly creature effects, and there is cgi too. but it did have a lot of practical. i don't think there's been a lot on that scale in recent years.

The Void and Krampus are the only ones coming to mind for recent films.

Practical? Purely hard to tell, because even if someone still uses it, it gets CG polished (like the Satyr in Pan's Labyrinth, since that's fresh in mind).

Upgrade had some cool head kills though that I think were practical.

Last time i recall a practical FX designer in the opening credits, I believe, was Rick Baker & Co. for The Wolfman :/

*thinks*

Now I'm not even sure if that had an opening credits, just a title. That's pretty common these days now.

This has been a popular topic of late: who is the best American rock band of all time?

My answer would be CCR.

My man, you totally get what I'm going for, and even not doing Rick Baker in the opening of the Wolfman. Totally counts, but I don't think they did him right in the opening either. Look, Fast and the Furious does a lot of real, practical effects with the cars, but go fuck yourself, not what I'm talking.

The Doors might be my second choice. Didn’t include Metallica as they’re really metal.

I will say this, it should be Van Halen. Eddie is a beyond a generational talent. Roth being such a cock suck, the rock game in itself, the 80s, fucked it all up. And I say this liking the Hager. But it should be Van Halen.

I’m okay with pretending Van Hagar didn’t happen. A 3-5 year peak of excellence is good enough for me. Guns N Roses and CCR were basically 5 years and out.

Nothing, not trying to be a dick, holier than thou or some shit. Cabin in the woods is probably a good one. I need to watch again, in fact.

Look here, redneck, CCR pulls up, it's a different kind of crowd. The Halen and Guns show up, different show. :D

I'm gonna vote Metallica for America's Greatest Band. Features an immigrant, takes advantage of capitalizing itself (Kiss does too, but Metallica's way better lol), busts their ass for every show.

Also wouldn't' argue Van Halen either, since they feature two great immigrants and their talents spearhead the band to commercial greatness lol.

What the fuck is this immigrant shit? That bullshit died long ago. Do it up for the country. I'm fine with Metallica, they are 100% American, even Lars is all about doing it up for us.
