for sake of transparency, this was the second autopsy (at least based on my understanding)

still, doesn't change that a man knelt on his neck for nine minutes, while two other men held him down. and a fourth stood nearby. as he cried for help and then went limp and unresponsive.

"The cop was arrested, why are they still protesting?" was perhaps my favorite. Another didn't seem to understand that cops rarely get tried fairly, and few ever face justice.

I'm not particularly outspoken about my politics at work, but walking by this uninformed conversation, I was just pissed, and briefly answered their inquiries.
One of my favorite things I’ve heard is the people who say “Not all cops!” but are more than willing to bury the protests in their entirety because of looters.

Apparently "protestors" and "rioters" are the same, despite the fact that a decent amount of protestors are very outspoken against the riots. Don't expect nuance from these people, though, to be sure.

i was called down for being against sloppy riots. either being outspoken against it is okay or it's not. :P

seeing a few videos that cast doubt on some of the riots being for the purpose of helping the cause. including a white woman dressed in black spray painting "black lives matter" on a wall. and a bunch of black americans blocking the doors of a target, from someone or another group trying to get in and loot (presumably)

also head (?) mentioned a provocateur setting fire to an auto repair shop. if i'm remembering that wrong, please correct me.

He busted out the windows. There was some suspicion that he was an undercover cop but that hasn’t been confirmed.

we need to work to be more clear about who is trying to help the cause. and who is working against it, or just being opportunistic in the situation (which serves the same purpose, basically)

I believe there are three groups responsible here. Right wing extremists, far left anarchists and undercover police. There’s a long history in this country of undercover law enforcement being used as agitators.

I've watched that video multiple times. I 100% believe that guy is either a cop or an ally of the cops. He seems definitely suspicious.

how much of trump's outrage and "shoot the looters" mentality is aimed at any of these groups?

Yeah. He looked and carried himself like a cop or some member of law enforcement. And the people around him seemed to think so too.

active body cams should be mandatory whenever police are on duty, and out in public. and the footage should be given (or copied in entirety) for some organization outside of the police department to review. more oversight is a necessary step.

Police can’t even stop killing unarmed black men at protests centered around police killing unarmed black men.

The first autopsy should be thrown out. Obvious cover up.

There were some protests here today, one of them led by Trae Young. While there was some rioting in OKC, it was peaceful here in Norman. Our previous police chief built a very strong relationship with the public (I could finally walk down the street without getting stopped), and it seems to have carried over to the current chief.

Good to hear. Wish more police to willing to actually work with their community as opposed to bully them and beat them down.
