this is the same as saying that part of the solution to mass shootings is to stop making violent video games. educate those who partake (including law enforcement officers etc), to the nuance and context and history depicted in their entertainments, before you decide that they need to be done away with.

Back when everyone was doing coke, white users went on to live normal lives and raise families and get good jobs. Entire generations of black men were locked up for doing essentially the same things.

America needs to reckon with how badly it has consistently fucked over the black community. And probably more than half of this country doesn’t even want to have those conversations because they’re by nature uncomfortable and they think their empathy means guilt, which is bullshit.
i didn't even think about the severity of the crime that they are arrested for. that's another good thing to discuss.

Yeah that’s a no dawg.

Talking about entertainment does raise an interesting question: the idea of bad policing and corrupt cops have been pervasive in our entertainment for damn near a century. Everyone has been exposed to it. Do people just passively accept that as being part of the culture, or is there some real denial about it projecting into reality? Those writers and filmmakers didn’t just pull these ideas out of thin air.

On an international protesting note, I would not be surprised if King Leopold statues in Brussels get taken down. No African colonists were more brutal than the Belgians, and Brussels is a very black city today. I doubt I’ve seen more mixed race couples and children anywhere in the world than I did in Brussels.

it seems to be a forgone conclusion that it is just a part of life. same as when corrupt businessmen or politicians are depicted in fiction.

Also, there’s a real palpable feeling of change going on all over this country. Even the redneck backwoods towns from East Texas to the Panhandle are experiencing small protests. Being a part of it yesterday, I personally felt inspired and it was a great cultural experience to go through. Trump cannot win this culture war screaming “LAW & ORDER!” every day. He just can’t.

Mitt Romney joining protests, echoing his father George’s involvement in the Civil Rights movement.

I like Romney more and more these days

Also big step by Colin Powell. That was a very big voice for Biden.

The BLM protest happening in Vidor, Texas that attracted a couple hundred people is pretty incredible. That’s a notoriously racist KKK stronghold in Southeast Texas that used to have signs warning black people to be out of town by sundown. People who drive that stretch don’t stop in that town for anything.

My dad had a picture he took back in the early 60s of a sign in Waverly, Ohio. It read "n****r dont let the sun shine on your ass".

Good to see some conservatives having a backbone.

The volume of pro Biden and anti Trump voices are becoming more pronounced. It’s incredible to watch.

Ben “FACTS DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS!” Shapiro, a supposed “conservative intellectual” who is an absolute pussy in every imaginable way, says he might be done watching sports because the politics are taking him out of his “place of comfort”.

No way there’s a bigger pussy alive than Little Ben Shapiro.

If you want to turn it into a laugh, listen to his voice and imagine him launching into a political rant about masculinity being under attack.

I don't know. Now a lot of people are worrying about a second wave because of this. Weren't you all about the lockdown, masks, the greater good which is to help save other people's lives? People mass congregating in the filthy streets, spreading disease, not caring about any of the lives of the people right next to them, that's a p good part.
