Watching the Friday the 13th Franchise, with Jason

There's a legend around here. A killer buried, but not dead.
A curse on Crystal Lake. A death curse. Jason Voorhees' curse.
Few have seen him and lived. Some have even tried to stop him... No one can.

I've left the reviewing part to Jason. I'm just commenting occasionally as I go.

would be cool to see how you rank the final girls of the series, along with the jason's if you're into that at all.

I know my top two are Ginny and Pam.

Trish and Alice would complete the top 4.

Tina of 7 possibly breaking in 5th place.

I was telling Alli yesterday, I'd like to see them fuck with the trope, and have the final girl be the slutty drug user bitch. The typical final girl would be like the last victim.

Of course, it runs a dangerous ground of changing the formula.

Favortism.

I always thought Pam was great in spite of favortism. I enjoyed how protective she was with Reggie in the 3rd act, and pretty much with everyone. I remember the topic when Foo and I did that radio thing, and he was surprised at my choice of Pam.

Jebus Christ Thom Matthews is miscast. I know continuity has been a major issue with the series, but he's just so terrible it's hard not to notice. At least John Shepard is believably a continuation of what was set up before in 4, as well as delivering an excellent performance. In 6, Tommy feels totally different, reduced to a hammy boy-who-cried-wolf (though never lied about the wolf). If they wanted to ignore 5 because of the backlash, at least still pay attention to 4.

Not fond of the Goth and Humor approach in tone either, but the late 80's headed into a more humorous tone altogether anyway.

I do notice Megan is aggressive, while the seemingly goody goody dies in 6, but Megan isn't exactly a slutty drug using bitch either, plus she's hanging around Hero-Tommy keeping her out of harm's way the whole time. A step in the direction of the anti-trope I am hopeful for, but I wouldn't want a hero-dude in the mix. I want fullbang slut with heroin needles and meth-mouth, being a bitch to everyone :P Okay, maybe doesn't need ALL that.

I know as a kid I dug this one a lot, but as I grew up, the nostalgia did NOT hold.

CJ's Batman-full-body-head-turns are pretty funny.

I wonder if Tom McLaughlin's mime background is why he directed CJ's Jason so goofy. The way he falls with all the shotgun blasts are just funny.

Whenever I watch the series in order, I kinda hate how they dehumanized Jason.

Song's still rad though. Curious about the original version before they synthpopped it.

Pretty noticeable after 4 (5 doesn't really count on that topic)

I planned on addressing Jason being humanized in my review for part 2.
