If they couldn't reach a deal, he would've just retired and maintained his car dealerships and restaurants. My favorite thing about this is he will be there to retire Champ's number.

If they didn't reach a deal, it is known that Elway was going to become the Rams' GM next year. Kroenke was willing to throw in a small piece of ownership as well. But it wasn't likely to come to that.

My nibba definitely wouldn't go to Loss Angeles.

If he did they'd have to rename the city to Win Angeles, finally.

Crybaby sports media throwing a fit at Tony Dungy's top ten QB rankings of all time. It's taken me like 10 minutes to find PART of his actual list, because literally every single article is crying that Tom Brady didn't even make his top 5. lol. My gripe with Dungy is Brady actually made the list!

All I know is Dungy's list goes as follows:

1) John Elway
2) Aaron Rodgers
3) Steve Young
4) Dan Marino
5) Peyton Manning
6) Tom Brady

The top 5 is a B+ or A- list, at least. The only moderate gripe I have is Aaron Rodgers and Steve Young being a bit too high. Drop them below Marino and Manning and it would be a very solid top 5. I still got Favre ahead of Rodgers only barely. They might be tied. I'd put Montana over Young, but I didn't get to see much of Montana as a youngster. Not sure Young would make my top 10, actually.

My big three:
1) John Elway
2) Dan Marino
3) Peyton Manning

A league of their own. All thre are interchangeable, really. Every one else is a tier below. Those are by far the three best QBs I've ever seen in my life.

That was the reported outcome next year if this deal didn't get done. Elway has been jonesing for a piece of the Broncos for years, Kroenke offered a stake in the Rams' ownership as well as full control of football operations.

To me, there are eight legendary QBs in NFL history, post-merger.

Dan Marino
Steve Young
Brett Favre
Peyton Manning
Tom Brady
Aaron Rodgers

At their peaks, Steve Young, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers are the best I've seen. Career-wise, different story.

I never go by career success, stats or rings. I go by pure talent, what was done on the field, and how it was done. I always wished Dan Marino got a ring, but in a way it's a small blessing to the ranking world, because if he got his ring, there wouldn't be any quarterback to fill Marino's pedestal of QBs with no rings. Jim Kelly would probably be the guy, but he wasn't the QB that Marino was, so there really wouldn't be much of a discussion. Marino is an all-time great who still makes all-time lists, which forces people to consider greatness without rings. QB rankings might be worse than basketball player rankings had Marino won a Super Bowl, and even more so if Norwood hadn't been wide right.

I was really young so it made a strong impression on me but peak Steve Young is as good as I've seen a QB play in my lifetime, and that includes the incredible things Manning, Brady, Rodgers and Brees have done in the past decade. Steve Young for a period of time was unstoppable. The combination of pinpoint accuracy and mobility was special.

Brees is a top 10-er for me.

The closest guy outside the top 8, but I'm hesitant to put him in that group.

Elway re-signed, Kubiak joining the scouting department, Teblow about to unseat Siemian. Great week.
