put it in context, not disputed it or bashed it.

what i believe is that cnn and other news media is milking the story, with no actionable proof. if there was actionable proof, there would probably be some sort of legal action taken. but until that happens, this is just like the birther thing or the fake muslim thing, or the clinton email scandal or whatever else. we'll have to wait and see for something official, but the media is definitely milking it for ratings. without a doubt.

I don't think "Buht Russianz". I think Russia deliberately and effectively influenced the US Election through its support of hacking of the DNC and Hilary Clinton in order to sabotage their chance of winning, avoided doing so to Trump who they viewed as a better path to removing the damaging sanctions on Russia, and were hoping that this meddling would help sway the election in a way they wanted. I believe they also supplemented this with additional misinformation campaigns which would serve to further their cyber-attacks on the US and its electoral process. 100% this is what happened.

I do not believe Trump personally worked with Putin to get this done, or even thought of it as something he had control over.

I do not believe Russia tampered with any voting machines or vote counts, the people's will (however influenced by bad information from Russia or by the hacks at DNC, or other reasons) was done and Trump is the outright and correct winner.

Russia had hoped to exploit key assets close to Trump who had been compromised, notably Flynn and now it looks like people like Mannafort, whose financial ties and personal ties to Russia could be seen as an issue. What I am not clear at all is whether in any way they were used or trying to gain influence in Russia in an undue manner, or if it was just an Ace Russia wanted up its sleeve if possible.

Russia has significant interest in increased isolation and schismatism of Europe as its goal, and have waged increasing war of information and cyber attacks on key democratic institutions in Europe and the US with the goal to improve their ability to remove NATO imposition and EU/US Sanctions which is currently crippling the Russian economy and has seen a significant amount of resistance to Putin start to rise up, mainly from younger Russians. To re-assert power in Russia, the sanctions need to be revoked and Putin needs some foreign policy wins, hence his meddling in Syria.


All that aside, the investigations may reveal further the length of Russian cyber-warfare, may show that Flynn was guilty of some shady stuff. It will not show collusion directly between Donald and Vova in some kind of nefarious Manchurian Candidate scenario. And it needs to be allowed to conclude, as does the Special Prosecutor case. Because all of the stupidity of Russia aside, Trump is playing with fire by firing Comey and talking of firing Mueller, and trying to influence the FBI to drop its investigations. It is specifically what the FBI has set out to avoid since the death of J Edgar Hoover.

There you go, I've stopped beating around the bush and laid out my marker of what I think is the case, and why I think investigations matter but Van Jones and others is right that it is highly unlikely to somehow result in Trump resigning or being impeached for any actual crimes.
