Re: November 6th 2018
If the Democrats were an actual leftist party that cared about progressive policies, they wouldn't let Pelosi anywhere near them. Then again, they'd have to disband, as most of them are in much the same vein.

Pharmaceutical shit is actually private in D.C.. Would like it to be disclosed what kind of Alzheimer's pill Pelosi is taking on my dime.Foo wrote:And the Dems should really reconsider Pelosi. She is starting to make me wonder if she is not having some age related mental health issues. (not even saying it to be mean)

Re: November 6th 2018
If Democrats proposed that, Republicans would fight it, because it would decrease their power. If Republicans proposed it, the Democrats would do the same. It's a common sense solution, much like ranked choice voting, but no one is going to go out of their way and seriously fight for it. Status quo for the win.Headhunter wrote:I really don't understand why we don't just have independent panels determining voting districts. Partisanship will creep in naturally in any case but it's wild that gerrymandering is just an accepted part of the game.

I don't think they've ever claimed to be leftist. Both parties are centrist, though you wouldn't know it from their loudest supporters.Jigsaw wrote:If the Democrats were an actual leftist party that cared about progressive policies, they wouldn't let Pelosi anywhere near them. The divergence is growing though, no doubt.

You answered your own question. It is hilarious how many are drawn, though.Headhunter wrote:I really don't understand why we don't just have independent panels determining voting districts. Some numbers finally coming in for my district. They couldn't even run Democrats there for a long time and it's projected to be one of the closest races.

Think the US once again has the government it deserves. But a check on the worst impulses is good to see.
