It's possible. Except when she was like 19 or something she posted "Republicans do it better" on her myspace page and her liberal fans outraged over it. Now the reverse is happening and I think celebrity status is about 100% of the reason why the flip occurred.
Actually, she just gave a reason why she "seemed to lean" Republican. It's because in country music the past 20 years they are not really allowed to be liberal. So, is that cool in your book? Isnt that the same thing? Fuck man....Willie Nelson....big time liberal. Johnny Cash fought against oppression of black people in the prison system. Garth Brooks....liberal. Emmylou Harris, liberal. Kris Kristopherson.....liberal. Steve Earle.....has always been super liberal and is a Bernie fan. And the list goes on.
Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard are two of the biggest names in the history of country music and they are some of the most outspoken liberal celebrities as well.

Not buying that for a second. She clearly grew up in a Conservative household and becoming a celebrity changed her viewpoints. Nobody will ever admit to that, left or right.
i have no doubt that she was raised conservative. how many people come into adulthood with different beliefs than they were raised into? it's not that big of a deal how she came into it.

donald trump made the shift from dem to republican pretty late in life. get over it! :P
I did, and I voted for him. :o

Already a top ten president by every metric.
good. so you're cool with people shifting their politics as they grow.
Yes, but I'm not buying her story, is all.
enh. that's up to you. i'm sorry that you've got bad blood for taylor swift. :P
I think she got Bad Blood with me. :p

I still jam to her music once in a while, as I normally do before she came out of the closet.

Conservative celebrities tend not to be looked upon so highly in Hollywood. You should hear the shit people say about Clint Eastwood. I mean, he could've totally done what other celebrities do and whine about people talking shit, but he addresses it every now and then by firing back and calling millennials the biggest pussies who ever lived. lmao.
if millenials are the biggest pussies for taking shots at eastwood, than anyone taking shots at swift can take that crown too.

I likely just don't listen as often as people might think. But it isn't any more or less. A little underwhelmed with the new album so far, though.

He never called them pussies for taking shots at him.

i guess i mistook "fires back" to mean as an answer to his political critics.

Never said that, but with the new album being underwhelming, let's just say I like her music 20% less now.

cool. her music is her music. her political views are her political views. one doesn't have to do with the other. i hope that more people can be as balanced about it as you are.

My Bruce Springsteen superfandom should be evidence enough, methinks. I also know he wouldn't despise me for the political views I have.

Ahhhh. This is great. Perfect words from this lawyer. Jason doesn't think there is a problem though. *sigh*. I mean, it has only been what...a year since the Pittsburgh synagogue shootings? Read this. It's really good and to me sounds like a real American sticking up for the American values we seem to be losing.

Horse shit. Your reaction to this album release was drastically different. You went from smitten puppy, to firm provider to jaded ex with the front of I don't give a f.

My reaction was drastically different, because her approach in music is drastically different. Her writing changed, for sure. Particularly in the Calm Down song. "Say it in the street and get knocked out!" "Stop hating gay people!". Definitely not something you'd expect from Taylor's lyrics. "Lover" feels more like a Taylor song. I kinda liked the music in it, has a bit of a 50's feel to the music, but it's not as "sharp" sounding as it could be. Too much echo in the music.

Guys, you also need to take note, a big part of the enjoyment I got from listening to Taylor's music was that she was a voice for the average young girl and their daily struggles, kinda in the same way that Springsteen is the voice for the hard-working, forgotten people of America. I loved that she didn't let mainstream celebrity status ruin her and lecture people politically in her music, despite that I knew full well the last thing she ever said politically was "Republicans do it better". She grew up in a Conservative house and even believing she was always a Conservative, I was glad she kept politics out of it. It's one thing to be political, it's another thing to lecture people about politics. That's the difference, here. There's no rationale in leftist celebrity politics. If you don't agree, you hate gays and non-whites. I was always kind of waiting for her to come out publicly with her shift in politics. Once we saw her hanging out with Lena Dunham, you knew it was all over. You guys can't say this sudden shift in her music and the way she carries herself publicly isn't noticeable. She used to be a shy little sweetheart, whether giving speeches, meeting fans or performing live. Just take a look at her weird political speech she gave when she won the award. She's cocky, sarcastic, snarky, condescending. You don't even need to push play, you can already see it in the thumbnail. She's become every other hateful leftist celebrity. If you don't agree with her politics, you're not worthy. Definitely not the Taylor I became a fan of.

She had a hell of a run, though.
