Thong Thursday

This illness hit me hard, especially this morning. I went to work and worked two hours. Told them I wouldn't be able to make it the rest of the day, before I even finished the sentence the plant manager threw his hands up like a petulant child and walked away. Followed him into the office and told him I need Friday, too.

I never call in sick. This job is running me into the ground and I'm quite certain being around concrete dust all day is only contributing to the illness.

A totally thankless job. Nearly died once when my truck rolled over and actually got points toward termination even though the construction company admitted full guilt. This company is terrible.

Your body is constantly breaking down as you work jobs dependent on physical labor. You need to transition to white collar work. Period.

I'm still in my early 30s. There's no real white collar jobs out there either, tbh.

You may be young but your body is as fucked up and prone to bad fortune as any I've seen. And natural physical regression is coming anyway. Do yourself a favor and start planning ahead now.

Sell cars. Easy to get into, lot of smart people with no degrees do all the time. If you're good at it, you can make a shit ton of money and even if you're not, it's great life experience.

The issue for me isn't what I can do, it's what I can enjoy doing while earning a living. Not much shit I enjoy doing. Sure as shit don't want to work 6 days a week, either.

Well, you might wait forever waiting for the perfect job. No matter what you do, you'll end up in a cycle of counting down to the weekend or whatever days you have off. That's just how the game is. You find little victories throughout your days, build a few relationships will cool people you work with and accept any source of fulfillment you can get, that's pretty much all you can ask for realistically.

None of this should dread you more than continuing to threaten your health by working jobs your body isn't built for. Finance, sales, whatever. You'll be better for it.
