He was the only good thing about that flick.

You're not wrong. Man that was not a great film, bless it.

He is without a doubt the best part but I like all of it.

You like the old Mario Bros film with Leguizamo and Hoskins in its entirety?

I remember watching it as a kid and thinking "hey, this is cool"

Rewatched it a few years back and thought "you know what, I think I was watching it a bit TOO uncritically" :P

That's the thing for me, I can easily turn off the "critic" filter and just enjoy a film as it washes over me. That's why I can justify loving a Schindler's List or Seven Samurai and also loving Jason X and Weekend at Bernies. Or even getting enjoyment out of stuff that is just basic "does what it says on the tin" style films. But sometimes I do feel like I should at least acknowledge the absurdity.

i'm with tigg, pre-realizing that you guys were talking about a different movie. :P dennis hopper was the best thing about super mario, but i thought all of it was fun. (though it's been years since i've seen it)

waterworld was a similar situation, though i know that i still like that one. :P

Same. My only guess was that it being the most expensive movie ever made at the time, the fact it wasn't a masterpiece people thought they should drop a deuce on it. Perfectly fine action flick, it's Mad Max on water you fucks!

Every now and again it reaches 4:45 and I feel like being Djimon Hounsou in Amistad. "GIVE IS US FREE! GIVE IS US FREE!"

I think Waterworld was perfectly watchable.

So they were making a comedy. Thank God Kathleen Kennedy has better sense.

Han Solo always had a bit of comedy about him though. Not all that mental.
