Looking for jobs in Colorado (anywhere in Colorado, really). Can't really find shit. Anything I can find that I don't think I'd mind doing long-term pays just enough to not keep me in poverty. Which is not good. Everything else wants me to spend a million dollars at a university to make a decent living.

And don't give your hopes up on that one, because the payback will keep you in poverty anyway.

That's why I've always avoided college. College graduates average something like 3% more pay than the average high school/GED graduate.

In other news, we're getting our first rain in fucking forever tomorrow, and dumbasses are still ordering concrete so I have to go in to work. 6- day work weeks, one of the most annoying things is seeing rain on the upcoming forecast in the middle of the week and finding out the night before I still have to fucking work. My work allows customers to cancel orders an hour before they're scheduled, so naturally a lot of these fuckers just wait until the last minute to cancel, probably hoping the forecast is wrong. Can't tell you how many rainy days I've went to bed early for work, got up, drove into work, clocked in only to be sent home because everyone canceled at the last second. We randomly had to work nights last winter for this huge warehouse that was being built. There were a few nights at 11PM I'd get up and drive an hour to work, clock in, only for 30 of us to be sent home because the customer canceled before their one hour window.

This job blows. I'm trying so hard to not let it turn me into an angry person, but it's begging me to be one every day.

You need a change. That’s garbage!

How about you go to Coloradonand build the wall? Serves all purposes.

I'm only like 2 hours away from the border in California. Lol. Colorado will be like 12 hours.

Yeah but Colorado has better temperatures and weather so surely worth it.

And Zomb is there!

But I will have to leave D, Head and Reign behind. :(

Isn’t stuff cheaper if you go in groups, you could take D and Alli with you and find a three person room.

You can pair one those "just enough" jobs with driving Uber and the extra money should make a difference. You'd be working more but half the time you're just jamming in the car.

I don't know, it gets fucking cold there, you have to deal with snow and breathing is weird.

The problem with these "just enough" jobs is I'm still slaving my life away. I can live in the lower middle class if I work 60 hours a week. Which is disgusting.

Yes, but I don't want to be in a position to rely on others. I would like to be able to afford a house or a room on my own.

I have it easier in that I live next door to my parents so the rent is much cheaper, but I'm not a fan of that, either. I'm still relying on people despite already slaving my life away.

weren't you looking for the change for more stability in schedule? knowing when you were actually gonna work, and not just waiting for the call, sometimes hours before they expected you to show up"

Yes, but even if I were gifted something like that, it doesn't solve the issue of living in poverty.

that's always going to be hard to find, especially when you're looking from a distance (in cali, for jobs in colorado) i don't know how to help.

Almost everyone is slaving their life away and this country in particular values working hard not smart. I don't really know that there's any way to get around this grind unless you've got a serious, bankable talent in the bag you've yet to capitalize on. You'd give yourself a lot more options if you went to school but that doesn't seem to be in the cards, so I don't know. Selling cars makes sense. You get a lot of really smart and gifted people working at those places because they usually have a record and it's the only good jobs they can get. Which means it's a good job anyone can get.
